Was born in Beaumont, TX, which sits roughly 85 miles east of Houston. Three-time All-Star outfielder Jay Bruce also hails from Beaumont. He and Proctor workout together in the offseason. Played three seasons at Rice and burst on to the scene as a freshman, garnering Freshman All-America honors by Baseball America, among others, and was named the C-USA Freshman of the Year. As a junior, he was first-team C-USA after ranking among the league’s best in hits (82), batting average (.346), home runs (eight), total bases (122), slugging (.515) and on-base percentage (.431).During the Covid-19 shutdown in 2020, Proctor received permission to play for the Eastern Reyes del Tigre of the Constellation Energy League. That is the same team that 2021 Giant Scott Kazmir pitched on during the shutdown to begin reviving his career once again. Slugged a grand slam for his first career homer on Sept. 29, 2022 vs. Colorado that helped SF to a 6-4 win. Proctor was the first Giant since Kelby Tomlinson in 2015 to have his first career homer be a grand slam. Overall, he’s the 16th Giant to have his first homer be a grand slam. Proctor and his wife, Madison, were married this past December in Texas.

Was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Sept. 24 and appeared in seven games with SF, hitting .111 with one HR and six RBI... His first career homer was a grand slam on Sept. 29 vs. Colorado...became the 16th Giant to have his first home run be a grand slam and first since Kelby Tomlinson did so in 2015... According to Stats, LLC, Proctor was the seventh player since 2000 to have his first career HR be a grand slam to the opposite field... Played 1.0 inning at catcher for SF on Oct. 4 at SD... Joined the Giants in a trade with the Rays on Aug. 1 in exchange for RHP Jeremy Walker... Between Triple-A Durham and Sacramento he hit .229 (88-for-384) with 10 doubles, 12 home runs and 42 RBI in 113 games.

Spent the entire season with Double-A Montgomery and hit a career-high 12 HR...His .381 OBP ranked second in Double-A South behind teammate Jonathan Aranda (.410)… also ranked among Double-A South leaders in walks (63, 3rd) and runs (54, 8th)... Ranked 2nd among Rays minor leaguers with 63 BB... Made starts at catcher (57), shortstop (24), third base (5), designated hitter (4) and second base (3)... Ranked by Baseball America as the No. 26 prospect in the Rays system following the season.
