Started the season with Triple-A Norfolk, making four Quality Starts with the Tides. Pitched to a 2.16 ERA (50.0IP, 12ER) in night games with Norfolk. Struck out a season-high nine, June 7 at Durham. Finished the season with Double-A Bowie. Three of his five starts with the Baysox were Quality Starts. Pitched to a 1.80 ERA (20.0IP, 4ER) on the road in the Eastern League. Held the leadoff batters of an inning to a .034 average (1-29) with Bowie. Suspended 50 games for violation of MLB's substance abuse policy.
2013
Was converted into a knuckleballer, and went a combined 6-11 with a 4.43 ERA (142.1IP, 70ER) and 114 strikeouts for Double-A Bowie (4-6, 3.64 in 16GS) and Triple-A Norfolk (2-5, 6.23 in 9GS)...Threw a 7.0-inning no-hitter on June 30 vs. Harrisburg, earning Eastern League Pitcher of the Week honors (June 24-30)...Was named Organizational Pitcher of the Month in June after going 3-2 with a 2.02 ERA (35.0IP, 8ER).
