Did not play in 2013 as he continued his recovery from "Tommy John" surgery…had the surgery after going on the disabled list July 20, 2012 while playing for Triple-A Round Rock in the Rangers organization… became a minor league free agent Nov. 2, 2012 and did not sign with any team in 2013.

Was on the Pirates major league roster for the majority of June, while spending the balance of the season with Indianapolis (AAA)...batted .285 (49-172) at Triple-A and .107 (3-28) at the major league level.

Spent 10th and final season in the Boston organization...Began season with Triple-A Pawtucket, where he made 65 appearances behind the plate and one in left field (9/6)...Threw out 27% of the baserunners attempting to steal against him (19-of-71) while playing with Pawtucket...Hit safely in nine of his first 10 games and hit three of his seven Triple-A home runs over a
