Daniel Joseph Garcia graduated from John Wesley North High School in Riverside, CA in 1998...Played baseball, football, and soccer. Named All-Star in football his senior year...Earned All-League honors in soccer in 1997 was also All-State in baseball in 1997. Captured West Coast Conference All-League honors at Pepperdine University in 2000 and 2001. Is the first former Brooklyn Cyclone to play in the major leagues.

The hard-nosed infielder appeared in 49 games [40 starts] over two stints with the club in 2004. His 22 walks in 159 plate appearances produced an average of one base-on-balls every 7.3 plate appearances was tops on the club among players with more than 125 plate appearances. Garcia was also hit by nine pitches, second to Cliff Floyd's 11.

Picked up his first major league RBI, a sacrifice fly in teh eighth inning vs. Atlanta on September 3rd (Marquis)...Had his contract purchased by the Mets on September 2nd...Made his major league debut that night vs. Atlanta...Started at second base...Became the first Brooklyn Cyclone to make it to the major leagues...Tied his career-high with his fourth, two-hit game on September 24th vs. Pittsburgh...also had two hits on September 13th at Montreal; September 10th vs. Florida and September 2nd vs. Atlanta...Collected a career-best three RBI, including a two-run home run (Vasquez) and tied his career-best with his third, two-hit game of the season, September 10th vs. Florida off Mark Redman...Made his first major league home run, a solo shot, on September 10th vs. Florida off Mark Redman...Made his first major league appearance in the outfield on September 7th at Philadelphia when he entered the game in the 10th inning in leftfield...Collected his first big league hit, a single in the first inning off Mike Hampton on September 2nd vs. Atlanta...Also scored his first run in that contest...Performed in 17 games (16 starts) at second base and one game in leftfield for the Mets...with the Mets, he was 6-18 (.333) vs. lefthanded pitching, and 7-23 (.304) in seven home games...Hit .263 (102-388) with 45 runs, 23 doubles, three triples, four home runs and 54 RBI with 11 stolen bases for Norfolk (AAA) of the International League...Started the season with Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League and hit .333 (39-117) with 22 runs, 12 doubles, a triple, three home runs and 22 RBI in 32 games before being promoted to Norfolk (AAA) on May 14th...Hit safely in 24 of 32 games in which he polayed for Binghamton...With Norfolk, he had two hits and five games with three hits...Knocked in five runs vs. Syracuse on May 15th.
