Resides in Wichita, KS during the off-season with his wife Teresa and children Hannah (6/26/02) and Luke (4/26/04)...Earned all-conference honors as a freshman at Hutchinson Community College in 1993...Second in the Mexican Winter League following the 2003 season with 19 saves for Obregon...finished 3-2 with a 2.61 ERA (38.0IP/11ER) and 49 strikeouts in 33 appearances...Appeared in eight games with Culiacan in the Mexican Winter League following the 2004 season, posting a 2.45 ERA (7.1IP/2ER).

Missed the entire season after being placed on the 60-day disabled list on April 1 following arterial bypass surgery in his right shoulder, a procedure performed by Dr. Robert Thompson in St. Louis, MO on March 15.

Opened the season with Triple A Toledo, appearing in 35 games before having his contract purchased by the Tigers on July 14...Second among all International League relievers with 12.56 strikeouts per nine innings...Posted a 4.57 ERA (21.2IP/11ER) over his first 15 outings with the Mud Hens April 7-May 19, before posting a 1.37 ERA (26.1IP/4ER) over his final 20 outings May 21- July 10...Did not allow a run in his first seven outings with the Tigers July 14-29, working 8.1 innings over that stretch, while striking out 11 batters and walking two...Earned the save July 20 at Chicago's U.S. Cellular Field against the White Sox, marking the second save of his career and first since June 16, 2001 at Cincinnati as a member of the Colorado Rockies...Recorded a career-high four strikeouts in 2.1 innings of work July 29 at Oakland...Tied for second in the American League with 15 appearances during August...Held lefthanders to a .208 batting average (10x48), while righthanders batted .298 (20x64)...Limited opponents to a .196 batting average (11x56) with runners on base, while allowing two of 18 inherited runners to score (11.1 percent).

Joined the Tigers bullpen after having his contract purchased from Triple A Toledo on May 5, 2004...Made his Tigers debut on May 8 at Texas, walking a career-high three batters in 1.1 scoreless innings...the outing marked his first major league appearance since working 1.1 innings for the Colorado Rockies on July 21, 2001 versus Los Angeles...Tossed a career-high three scoreless innings June 3 versus Kansas City...also worked three innings June 9 versus Atlanta...Appeared in 12 of the club's first 40 games after joining the club on May 8, but made only three appearances over a 26-game span beginning June 22 before being optioned to Toledo on July 22...Held lefthanders to a .243 batting average (9x37), while righthanders batted .320 (24x75).
