Graduated from Seven Lakes High School in Katy, Texas...is the son of Mike Capel, who from 1988-1991 went 3-4, 4.62 with three saves in 49 relief appearances for the Cubs, Brewers and Astros...is the godson of Roger Clemens, who was a teammate of Mike Capel at the University of Texas.

Spent most of the season at Triple-A Memphis in the St. Louis organization but made his Major League debut with the Cardinals in June and also played in 13 games for the A’s following a Sept. 9 waiver claim…hit .176 in nine games with St. Louis and .371 with Oakland…batted a combined .308 with three home runs, 11 RBI and an .875 OPS in 22 games overall...Made all 17 of his starts in games in which Struck out 81 times against 43 walks... Played 114 of 117 games in Memphis (AAA). Also played three games in Springfield (AA) in mid-May... Hit .296/.414/.519 (24-81) with five home runs, 15 RBI, 17 walks, and a .933 OPS in 26 games in the month of July... His 17 walks in July were more than twice as many during any other month of the season and tied for 5th-most in the Triple-A East... Hit cleanup in 29 games, his most of any position in the lineup, batting .336/.381/.654 (36-107) with a 1.036 OPS... Batted .346 (18-52) on the first pitch of his at-bats.

Played 27 games for Team Texas of the Constellation Energy League, managed by Roger and Koby Clemens. Batted .200 (17-85) with three doubles, a triple, a home run and six RBI. The CEL was a four-team independent league created due to the COVID protocols.
