1996

Began season with Omaha...Was named American Association Player-of-the-Week for the week of 4/28-5/4...Was recalled by Kansas City for the first time on 5/6 when Joe Randa went on the D.L....Hit safely in his first five big-league games (10-for-20, .500)...Made first career start in left field on 5/7 @California...Swiped three bases in the 1st inning of the 5/12 game @Seattle, tying a major league record for most steals in an inning - last accomplished by California's Devon White on 9/9/89...Also stole second base in the 8th inning, giving him a career-high four steals in the game...Went 1-for-16 from 5/13 thru 6/5 and was optioned back to Triple-A on 6/8...Was recalled two days later when Bip Roberts went on the D.L....Made 10 appearances with the Royals and was optioned to Omaha on 6/28...Was selected to play in the Triple-A All-Star Game...Garnered American Association Player-of-the-Week honors again for the week of 7/28-8/3...Was recalled by Kansas City a third and final time on 9/10...Batted .353 (12-for-34) in 12 games during the month of September, including a six-game hitting streak from 9/10-17 (9-for-20, .450).
