Christopher Paul Resop...wife's name is Kara...has two children, Colton and Kenna...is a 2001 graduate of Barron Collier (Naples, FL) High School, where he lettered in baseball and football...was honored as a Class 4A All-State outfielder during his senior season...also played quarterback on the football team...had his high school uniform #4 retired Feb. 13, 2012.

2012

Appeared in 12 games for the Hanshin Tigers of the Japanese Central League...Went hitless in one plate appearance...Was released from his contract with Hanshin on 10/19.

2008

In the 10th inning on 4/3 vs. PIT, Resop faced three batters before moving to LF for one hitter and then returned to the mound to finish the inning...According to Elias, he was the first pitcher to pitch, leave the position and return to pitching in the same game since 7/15/93 with Jeff Nelson did it for SEA at BOS...The last time it was done in the same inning was 6/13/90 [1], when CHC's Les Lancaster did it against NYM...Was designated for assignment on 5/26 and reported to Triple-A Richmond for nine games...Was released on 7/24 and had his contract purchased by the Hanshin Tigers of the Japanese Central League...Appeared in eight games as a pitcher for the Tigers and earned six plate appearances without recording a hit.

2007

Worked in four games for the Angels after his 7/3 recall. All four games came 7/3-8. Placed on the disabled list on 7/13 (retroactive to 7/9) through the end of the season due to right triceps tendinitis. Went a season-high 2.0 IP on 7/4 at TEX, allowing one run on three hits with two strikeouts. Recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake 7/3 and made debut that night at TEX working a scoreless 8th inning. With Salt Lake, registered a 1-3 record and 4.57 ERA (45.1 IP/23 ER) in 27 games. Did not allow an earned run his last eight outings with Bees (14.1 IP). Acquired by Angels from Florida, 11/20/06, in exchange for pitcher Kevin Gregg.

2006

Groomed as a late-inning reliever and sometime closer at Triple-A Albuquerque, Resop went 4-0 wit a 3.81 ERA and two saves in 40 appearances for the Isotopes. Recalled from the Minor Leagues on Sept. 1, the right-hander logged his first win on Sept. 9 at Philadelphia, tossing a scoreless 10th inning.

2005

Registered 15 relief appearances (17.0 IP) for the Marlins while splitting the 2005 season between Carolina (AA) and Florida in just his second full season as a pitcher... posted a 2-0 record and 8.47 ERA with a .324 batting average against for Florida... Selected from Carolina on June 28 and made his Major League debut the same day vs. Atlanta, allowing four runs on four hits in 0.2 innings of work... recorded three straight scoreless appearances in his next three outings, from July 5-10, allowing three hits and one walk with seven strikeouts over 5.2 innings... Collected first career win on September 10 at Philadelphia, tossing a scoreless sixth inning (1 H, 1 SO)... Allowed runs in six of his 15 appearances... three times recorded three consecutive scoreless appearances (July 5-10, July 17-September 10, September 26-October 1)... tossed a season- and career-high 2.2 innings of relief on July 7 vs. Milwaukee, allowing no runs on one hit and one walk with a career-best four strikeouts... finished the season with a win vs. Atlanta on October 1, retiring all three batters he faced in the eighth inning... At Carolina, went 3-2 with 2.57 ERA and 24 saves... set career-highs in games (43), innings pitched (49.0) and saves (24)... held opponents to a .242 (47x194) average and two home runs, recording 56 strikeouts in 49.0 innings pitched... led Carolina in saves and finished second in Florida organization among saves leaders behind Chris Mobley (Greensboro - 34)... Named Best Reliever in Southern League by Baseball America... finished second in the Southern League in saves... selected as Southern League All-Star (North) along with five other Mudcats players... did not appear in the July 13 game.

2004

Played all of season with Class A Greensboro, going 3-1 with 1.94 ERA and 13 saves in 41 games...first full season as pitcher...Held opponent hitters to .173 (26x150) and one home run, compiling 68 strikeouts in 41.2 innings...led club in saves...After beginning season 0-1 with 3.93 ERA and four saves in 19 games in April and May, went 3-0 with 0.39 ERA and nine saves in 22 games over final three months of season...recorded 39 strikeouts and and allowed just three BB in 23.1 innings in June, July and August...allowed just one ER in final 26 games (27.0 IP) of season...Recorded season-high three strikeouts in five games...retired all three batters faced with strikeouts on three occasions, May 29 vs. Charleston (SC), June 1 vs. Asheville and June 26 at Charleston (SC)...Finished 36 games for Bats...suffered only loss of season on May 8 at Savannah, allowing 2 runs (1 ER) on three hits in 0.1 innings.

2003

Began the season as an outfielder before converting to pitcher in July... appeared in 26 games as position player between beginning of season and June 20... batted .191 (17x89) with one home run and eight RBI... hit lone home run of professional career on June 8 in second game of doubleheader at Kannapolis... after second disabled list stint of season, from July 7-23, pitched for first time as pro on July 23 vs. Lakewood, allowing one ER on one hit in 1.0 inning of work... went 0-1 with 4.97 ERA (7 ER in 12.2 IP) as pitcher... recorded season-high four strikeouts in 2.0 innings on July 30 at Charleston (SC).

2002

Spent entire season with the rookie Gulf Coast League Marlins...Batted .264 with 11 RBI in 28 games...Recorded only stolen base of professional career, 8/10 at GCL Dodgers...Appeared in right field (14), left field (5) and as designated hitter (8).

Began professional career as outfielder for the Rookie GCL Marlins and Single-A Utica...Played in 26 games with Gulf Coast League Marlins and batted .116 (10-for-86) with five RBI...Played primarily in right field (74), but also saw time in centerfield (1) and as designated hitter (11)...Promoted to Utica on 8/27 and batted .333 (1-for-3) in two games.
