Pitched for the World Team in the MLB Futures Game in 2000 at Atlanta and 2001 at Seattle. Southpaw spent parts of three seasons in the majors with the Houston Astros (2001-02, 2004) but has
not pitched in the majors since then due to a series of shoulder injuries.

Went 5-8 with a 5.56 ERA (55ER/89IP) in 21 games for Triple A Round Rock...struck out 66 batters while walking 54...struck out a season-high eight hitters in 5.2 innings on May 15 vs. Portland...tossed a season-high seven scoreless innings on August 18 at Nashville...allowed three hits and struck out four...was 3-2 with a 2.35 ERA (8ER/30.2IP) in six August starts...batted .238 (5x21) with two doubles and two runs batted in.

Went 7-5 with a 4.38 ERA (54ER/111IP) in his first full season in the Majors...made 23 appearances (21 starts) and struck out 93 while walking 61...was 7-5 with a 4.09 ERA (50ER/110IP) in his 21 starts.
- did not pitch after his appearance on Sept. 12...MRI revealed an impingement in his left shoulder and rotator cuff tendinitis...underwent surgery on Feb. 4, 2003, (Dr. James Andrews) to repair a small tear of the labrum and another in the rotator cuff, in addition to tightening the capsule in the left shoulder.
- was 2-1 with a 2.70 ERA (7ER/23.1IP) in five starts after returning from the disabled list (left shoulder soreness) Aug. 18.

- suffered a partial tear in his rotator cuff while diving back into second base on August 29 against Cincinnati, forcing him to miss the rest of the season.
- made his Major League debut on August 18 vs. Pittsburgh in an emergency start for Shane Reynolds, who was sidelined with a strained lower back...combined with Octavio Dotel on a two-hit, 3-0 shutout over the Pirates...learned of his start approximately an hour-and-a-half before game time.

Became a full-time starter for the first time in his four-year professional career, making 22 starts for Class A Michigan...pitched a no-hitter in May...won a season-high six games for the Battle Cats...also posted career bests in starts, 110.2 innings pitched and 115 strikeouts...tied his career high with 22 games...was 2-1 with a 2.51 ERA (8ER/28.2IP) in six starts during May...posted a 2.89 ERA (14ER/43.2IP) in nine starts at home...did not allow a hit in 7.1 innings, allowing two runs with six strikeouts in a no-decision at Cedar Rapids on May 6...pitched a seven-inning, no-hitter vs. West Michigan in the second game of a doubleheader on May 28, striking out nine.
