Was drafted by Houston (42nd pick) in the 1993 June Draft... Graduated from Crossett High School in 1992... Graduated from Texarkana Junior College in 1994 where he was a JUCO All-American as a sophomore... His cousin, Jesse Clark, played for the Green Bay Packers.

Established a franchise-record with 560 at-bats, while his 142 games played tied the Club record... Led the Charlotte Knights (AAA) in hits (161) and total bases (272) and was tied for the team lead in doubles (37) and triples (four)... Furthermore, led the team in batting average (.288), walks (56) and in on-base percentage (.350)... On two occasions compiled 13-game hit streaks (May 20-June 2 and from July 26-Aug. 8)... Appeared in 109 games at second base, four at third base and 12 in right field... Batted .336 (39-116) with 12 doubles and six home runs in May and hit .330 (37-112) in July... 39 of his 63 extra base hits came on the road.
