(41-140) over first 37 games through May 13, then batted .206 (13-63) in 17 games to sit at .266..last game in that span was 0-for-7 in 13-inning win on June 1 at Iowa…followed the 0-for-7 with an 8-game hit streak at .486 (17-35) to rise to .298 on June 10..had season highs with 5 hits and 4 RBI in 2nd game of that streak, an extra-inning win on June 3 at Iowa in which he had a 2-run single in the 13th..the 5 hits were most by a New Orleans player all year..from June 11-July 8, hit .185 (15-81) in 23 games to drop to .270..batted .442 (23-52) in a 15-game stretch July 9-26 to rise to .294, but would hit .222 (30-135) in final 36 games to finish at .275..had pair of season-best 4-walk games, April 5 and June 16, both games at Nashville..fielded .985 (4 E/266 TC) in the outfield with 13 assists, T2nd-most OF assists in PCL.
2012
Began year at Triple-A and had 3 stints with the Marlins in Ozzie Guillen's only year with the club: April 30-May 4, May 15-June 6, and July 24-end of season…had MLB career highs for games (84), runs (29), and RBI (17)…matched career high with 3 hits on Aug. 18 at COL (4th time) and set career high with 3 RBI on Aug. 8 at NYM, hitting bases-loaded triple in 8th inning…last ML game was Oct. 3 vs. NYM, going 2-for-5 with a double and run scored…batted .321 (78-243) in 64 games for New Orleans.
2011
Received first call-up from triple-A New Orleans on May 2 and made season debut
that night at St. Louis as pinch-hitter (0x1). Was optioned back to Zephyrs on May 11
and recalled again on July 2, staying with Club for remainder of season...Appeared in 67 games for Zephyrs. In that time, led team (min. 30 games) in batting,
hits and OPS (1.002), and was tied for lead in home runs and doubles. Named
to Pacific Coast League All-Star team, but did not appear due to second call-up to
Majors...Finished minor league season with a .467 (7x15) batting average as pinch-hitter, with
three runs, a walk, two doubles, a home run and three RBI...Named Marlins' Minor League Player of the Month in June; batted .363 (37x102) in
27 games with 15 runs, seven doubles, four home runs, nine RBI and a .426 on-base
percentage...On July 21 vs. San Diego, became sixth Marlins' position player to enter game as a
pitcher (1.0 IP, bb). Last to do so was Ross Gload on May 22, 2009 vs. Tampa Bay...On August 7, hit first career home run, off Mitchell Boggs, in sixth inning vs. Cardinals.
Was first of only two pinch-hit homers for Club in 2011; other came off bat of Greg
Dobbs on September 3 vs. Philadelphia...On August 16 at Colorado, became first Marlin to hit two triples in a game since
Logan Morrison on September 3, 2010, and just third ever (also, Jesus Tavarez on
August 28, 1995)...On September 27, second-to-last game at Sun Life Stadium, hit a walk-off home run
off of Doug Slaten in bottom of ninth to give Marlins a 3-2 victory. It was final home
run at Sun Life Stadium...Batted .287 (39x136) with 13 runs, nine doubles, three triples, a home run, five RBI and
five stolen bases over last 42 games of season, including 38 starts in outfield (25 in
center, nine in left, four in right); had four outfield assists in span, and five for season.
2010
Spent majority of his fourth professional season at triple-A New Orleans, where he batted .255
with five homeruns and 27 RBI in 91 games for the Zephyrs ... Had 20 multi-hit games, including a season-high four hits on August 27 at Nashville ... Hit .304 in the month of April with 24 hits, three doubles, a homerun and seven RBI after hitting in
eight of the team's first nine games. Reached base safely in the first 16 games of the season ... Selected to the Major League roster on May 7, and made his Major League debut that day,
recording a single as a pinch-hitter in his first Big League at-bat ... Made the first start of his career May 9th at Washington as the right-fielder. Appeared in five
games before he was optioned to New Orleans on May 13th ... Recalled two days later and went hitless in seven at-bats, all pinch-hitting appearances ... Optioned again to New Orleans on May 26 where he hit .237 in 41 games before his final recall
on July 18th. Appeared in 11 games for the Marlins during this stint, all in a pinch-hitting or defensive
replacement capacity ... Recorded his first two career RBI July 23 against Atlanta, hitting a two-RBI pinch-hit single off
starter Derek Lowe.
2009
Spent entire 2009 campaign with double-A Jacksonville, posting a .297 average with 64 runs
scored, seven home runs and 49 RBI in 121 games....Among all Marlins' minor leaguers, ranked second in hits, third in average, tied for third in triples and tied for fourth in runs....Earned Southern League Player of the Week honors for June 22-28 after batting at a .480 clip (12x25)....Posted his first four-hit game on April 18 vs. West Tennessee (4x5) while also driving in a season-high four runs. Equaled his seasonbest
on August 22 at Mobile (4x6)....Homored in consecutive days on July 2 and 3...did so again on August 21 and 22....For the month of August, posted a .337 average (33x98) with four doubles, two triples, three home runs and 10 RBI over 28 games.
Hit .315 (17x54) in July and .313 (30x96) in June....Boasted a .327 average (35x107) with runners in scoring position. His average climbed to .330 (19x57) with RISP and two outs....Hit in nine straight games from May 22 to May 30, his longest hit streak of the season. Batted .406 (13x32) over the streak....In 21 games during the Arizona Fall League, hit .379 (36x95) with 20 runs scored, six doubles, three triples, three home runs and 12
RBI for the Mesa Solar Sox...finished third in the AFL in hits (36), fourth in average, total bases (57) and triples, and fifth in runs.
2008
Appeared at three levels within the Marlins' organization in 2008...began the season with single-A Greensboro prior to earning a
promotion to single-A Jupiter...appeared in 12 games for Carolina before finishing out the season with Jupiter...batted a combined
.293 (143x488) with career highs in doubles (17), home runs (23) and 80 RBI in 131 games...ranked fourth in the organization in home
runs and tied for fourth in RBI.
