2020
Had discomfort throwing in early December 2019 and was given an injection in his left shoulder by Rangers Team Physician Dr. Keith Meister on 12/19/19… once he returned to throwing near the start of Spring Training last year, the discomfort returned…had season-ending surgery performed on 2/28/20 by Dr. Meister to repair fraying and a partial tear in his left labrum…expected to continue his rehabilitation program at Spring Training, and will not be ready for the start of the regular season.
2019
Recalled from Triple-A Nashville prior to ML debut on 8/20 and remained in the Rangers rotation for the rest of the season… opened his big league career by posting no record and a 1.50 ERA (3 ER/18.0 IP) through his 1st three starts, but was tagged for 19 R-ER in just 8.2 IP over his next 3 outings…opponents batted .415/.468/.927/1.395 (17-41) with six home runs during latter stretch after slashing .203/.292/.250/.542 (13-64) in his 1st three starts…before his call-up, combined to go 3-5 with a 3.90 ERA (27 ER/62.1 IP) and 18 BB/64 SO across four levels of the Texas farm system…opponents batted .243/.298/.374/.673…whiffed 9.2 batters per 9.0 IP, 2nd-best figure of his career behind only a 10.4 rate last season…allowed just three HR in 62.1 IP…missed nearly two months during pair of stints on the minor league injured list: 4/5-15 while recovering from a blister and 4/23-6/16 with left shoulder fatigue.

Named the Rays Minor League Pitcher of the Year, leading all Rays minor leaguers with 158 strikeouts…combined to go 9-6 with a 3.08 ERA (47 ER/137.1 IP) over 25 games/22 starts with Charlotte (A+) and Montgomery (AA)…also ranked among TB minor league leaders in both wins (T4th) and ERA (5th)…his strikeout total was 14th-most among all minor league hurlers…returned to Charlotte to open the season and was promoted to Montgomery on 7/9…went 6-1 with a 1.95 ERA (12/55.1 IP) over 9 starts to lead the Biscuits to the Southern League postseason.
