Bradford Alexander Halsey
Bradford Alexander (Brad) Halsey...he is single and makes his home in New Braunfels, TX...Brad was a 1999 graduate of Westfield (TX) High School, then attended Hill Junior College in Hillsboro, TX...after two seasons of JUCO ball, Halsey transferred to the University of Texas in Austin, where he was an integral part of the Longhorns' 2002 National Championship team, going 7-2 wtih a 2.74 ERA and 82 strikeouts.
2006
Halsey was acquired from Arizona in the final week of Spring Training and was productive for the A's before the All-Star break. He went 4-1 with a 3.99 ERA in 45 relief appearances, and 1-3 with a 5.68 ERA in seven starts. Halsey made six starts when Rich Harden went on the disabled list, and one start in August when the A's needed an extra starter because of a doubleheader. He allowed 9 of his 24 (37.5) inherited runners to score and had a .288 opponents batting average. The A's were 1-6 in his seven starts. One of his starts was a no-decision against the Giants on May 20, when he game up homer No. 714 to Barry Bonds.
2005
Won the No. 5 spot in the rotation out of Spring Training. ... Ranked second among NL rookies in inning pitched (160) and third in wins (8) and strikeouts (82).
2004
Brad got his first taste of the Major Leagues with a pair of stints in New York, going 1-3 with a 6.47 ERA in 9 appearances (8 starts)...his contract was purchased on June 19 and he made his big league debut that day, recording a 6-2 win at Dodger Stadium after allowing 2 runs on 5 hits with a walk and 3 strikeouts in 5.2 innings...he also picked up his first Major League hit in his first at bat, a single off of Hideo Nomo...he was the first Yankee rookie to start and win his Major League debut since Brandon Claussen on June 28, 2003, vs. the Mets at Shea Stadium...Halsey was optioned to Columbus (AAA) on July 8...he went 11-4 with a 2.63 ERA in 24 games (23 starts) for Columbus, fanning 109 batters while yielding 128 hits and 37 walks...his complete game shutout on June 10 vs. Rochester earned him the International League Pitcher-of-the- Week honors for June 7-13...Brad was recalled from Columbus on September 5...he got the starting nod in the second game of the September 9 twinbill against Tampa Bay but did not get the decision in the Yankees' 10-5 triumph...he pitched 3.1 innings, matching his shortest career outing (June 26 vs. the New York Mets).
