Robert James Livingston
Robert J. (Bobby) Livingston graduated from Trinity High School in Lubbock, TX in 2001...Played football and baseball as a freshman and sophomore at Estacado High School (TX)...Was the team's quarterback and also saw time as a wide receiver...Transferred to Trinity High School (TX) where he only played baseball...As a senior, he went 9-1 with a 0.22 ERA on the mound, while hitting .423 with four home runs and 23 RBI at the plate.
2009
Pitched in the minor league systems of three different clubs during the year: Baltimore, Cleveland and Pittsburgh...Was 4-0 with a 3.95 ERA in five starts in May for the Orioles Bowie (AA) of the Eastern League...In 27.1 innings, he gave up 33 hits, 15 runs, 12 earned, with 10 walks and 13 strikeouts...Went 7.0 shutout innings allowing six hits and one unearned run to earn the win for Baltimore's Norfolk (AAA) team in the International League on June 8th against Toledo...Released by the Orioles on July 1st...Signed as a minor league free agent by Cleveland on July 2nd...While in the Indians system, he pitched for Akron (AA) of the Eastern League and Columbus (AAA) of the International League...Traded to the Pirates on September 1st for a player-to-be-named later...Pitched one game for Pittsburgh's Indianapolis (AAA) of the International League and tossed 7.0 innings, allowing two runs, one earned, six hits and two walks while receiving a no-decision vs. Louisville on September 4th...Posted a 1-1 mark with a 7.58 ERA in six starts for Tiburones de La Guaira of the Venezuelan Winter League.
2008
Spent most of the year recovering from surgery to the labrum of his left shoulder...Reinstated from the 60- Day Disabled List on July 17th and spent the rest of the season in Cincinnati's minor league system.
2007
On 9/6 had season-ending arthroscopic surgery to repair the torn labrum in his left shoulder (Dr. Timothy Kremchek)...spent most of the season at Class AAA Louisville but made 10 starts during 3 stints with the Reds...made his last appearance of the season on 8/21 vs Atl, received no decision in the 8-7 win (4.2ip, 10h, 7r, 6er, 0bb, 4k, 1hr)...3 days later went on the 15-day disabled list with a sore left shoulder and didn't pitch again the rest of the season...in his 10 starts the Reds went 6-4 and scored 58 runs (5.8 r/g)...3 times was the victim of blown saves...became the first pitcher to make his first 4 starts for the Reds on the road since Rich Gale in 1983...overall made 7 of his 10 starts away from Great American Ball Park...as one of the Reds' last spring cuts began the season at Louisville and went 0-3, 3.22 in 7 starts before he was recalled on 5/13 to fill the spot in the rotation vacated by Eric Milton, who went on the disabled list...returned to Louisville 2 days after that start at Dodger Stadium to make room on the roster for reliever Marcus McBeth...made 2 more starts for the Bats (0-0, 6.55) before he was promoted again on 5/28 to fill the roster spot vacated by Kirk Saarloos, who was optioned to Louisville...took Saarloos' turn in the rotation and made a spot start on 6/1 at Col in which he earned his first career victory (4-2 win)...following that appearance was optioned back to Louisville to make room on the roster for McBeth again...after that 6/2 option made 7 starts and 1 relief appearance for the Bats (3-0, 3.70) before he was promoted on 7/16 to fill Homer Bailey's spot in the rotation...made 8 more starts for the Reds (2-3, 5.89) before the injury ended his season...on 5/13 at LAD, in his first career start and his Reds debut was the victim of a blown save in the 10-5 loss...left leading, 5-4...was in line for his first career victory but the bullpen allowed the tying run in the sixth inning and 5 more in the eighth...in that spot start on 6/1 at Col picked up his first career hit and first career RBI with a run-scoring single off Taylor Buchholz...on 8/11 vs SD threw a career-high 8.1 innings to earn the 8-3 victory... allowed all 3 runs on homers by Brian Giles (solo in the 7th, 2-run in the 9th)...held the other Padres batters to just 2 hits...took a 2-hitter into the ninth inning before allowing a pinch-hit double by Morgan Ensberg and Giles' second homer of the game...as a batter, from 6/1-7/26 put together a 4-game hitting streak (7-13, .538, 2rbi), the longest by a Reds pitcher since Eric Milton's 4-game streak from 8/8-8/19, 2006...twice was allowed to hit but did not take the mound for the next half inning...singled both times...on 7/16 at Atl became the first Major League pitcher with 4 hits in a game since Livan Hernandez did it for SF on 8/11/01 at Cubs and the first Reds pitcher since John Smiley had 4 hits on 6/7/93 at Mtl...in a 7-0 Louisville win vs Pawtucket on 6/22 threw a 9-inning complete game.
2006
Spent most of the season at Class AAA Tacoma but pitched for the Mariners in his Major League debut...began the season with Tacoma and went 1-1, 2.12 in 3 apps there before he was promoted on 4/24...made 3 apps for Sea...on 4/25 vs WSox pitched in relief in his big league debut (1.2ip, 5h, 4er, 3bb, 1k)...on 5/4 at WSox threw 3.0 scoreless innings (1h, 0bb, 1k)...made his final appearance on 5/12 at LAA (0.1ip, 3h, 6er, 3bb, 1k)...was optioned to Tacoma on 5/14 and spent the rest of the season with the Rainiers... overall at Tacoma went 8-11, 4.59 in 22 starts and 1 relief appearance...went 2-2, 2.76 in June and 2-2, 2.63 in August...went 7-3, 3.60 at home and 1-8, 5.65 on the road...following the season pitched for Peoria in the prestigious Arizona Fall League (6gs, 1-3, 10.45, 20.2ip, 37h, 3bb, 17k).
2005
In 28 starts at Class AA San Antonio and Class AAA Tacoma combined to finish 14-6, 3.43...led the Texas League in ERA (2.86) and led all Mariners minor league pitchers in victories...also ranked among the organization's leaders in strikeouts (119, 4th) and overall ERA (3.43, 6th)...at San Antonio recorded 13 quality starts and struck out at least 5 batters in 7 starts...went 5-0, 2.53 at home...posted a 2.77era in both May and July...against lefthanded batters posted a 1.93era and 2.23 batting average...for the Missions allowed 2 runs or fewer in 10 of his 18 starts...recorded 9 strikeouts in consecutive starts on 6/11 and 6/16...produced 6 consecutive quality starts from 5/21-6/16 and had 9 quality apps in 10 starts before he was promoted to Tacoma on 7/14...in his last 4 starts of the season went 4-0, 1.80...on 9/2 vs Sacramento recorded a careerhigh 14 strikeouts.
2004
At Class A Inland Empire ranked among the Californa League leaders in innings pitched (186.2, 1st), shutouts (1, T1st), strikeouts (141, 2nd) and ERA (3.57, 3rd)...was a CL All-Star and was voted his club's Most Valuable Pitcher...3 times was California League Pitcher of the Week (5/10-5/16, 6/14-6/20, 8/23-8/29)...ranked fourth among all Mariners farmhands in strikeouts (141)...in 18 of his 27 starts allowed 3 runs or fewer...began the season 6-0...on 8/28 vs San Jose threw a 3-hit shutout...twice recorded 10 strikeouts, including a season-high 11 on 6/20 vs Round Rock...went 7-1, 2.11 at home and 5-5, 5.18 on the road...from 8/19-8/22 was on the suspended list.
2003
At Class A Wisconsin established a new club record for victories (15)...was voted his club's Most Valuable Pitcher...was selected to pitch in the Midwest League All-Star Game...among Midwest League pitching leaders ranked second in innings pitched (178.0), third in wins (15) and 10th in ERA (2.73)...in 18 of his 26 starts allowed 2 runs or fewer...from 4/29-6/5 won 8 consecutive starts...in his final start of the season threw a 6-hitter in the first complete game of his career.
