Went 0-for-1 in one game with Oakland and batted .255 with four home runs and 30 RBI in 56 games with Triple-A Nashville before his season ended in June following a diagnosis of testicular cancer…was optioned to Triple-A Nashville following the final Spring Training game April 2 but returned two days later on Opening Day when Felix Doubront went on the disabled list…grounded out as a pinch hitter April 7 against Chicago (AL) in his only action before he was optioned back to Nashville the next day… spent the balance of the season with the Sounds…hit .259 (43-for-166) with two home runs against right-handed pitchers, .240 (12-for-50) with two home runs against left-handers…slugged all four of his home runs on the road…batted .227 with the bases empty, .289 with runners on…went 4-for-4 with a walk, triple, home run and 12 RBI with the bases loaded…had a .192 batting average when leading off an inning…hit .290 with three home runs in 27 games as a left fielder, .220 with one home run in 29 games as the designated hitter…did not commit an error in 50 total chances in the outfield…hit in every spot in the order from three through seven with his most action coming in the four (21 games) and five (21 games) spots…collected 14 of his 30 RBI in three games as he had a four-RBI game on April 11 against Colorado Springs and a pair of five-RBI games on April 21 at Colorado Springs and June 15 against Memphis…hit .194 over his first 10 games through April 20…then went 3-for-4 with a grand slam in his five RBI performance on April 21 at Colorado Springs…went 4-for-25 (.160) over his final seven games in April and finished the first month of the season with a .215 batting average in 18 games…then hit .286 in 26 games in May…had a 10-for-48 (.208) stretch from May 2 to 16 but then compiled a season-best 13-game hitting streak from May 17 to June 1 (19-for-57, .333)…hit three of his four home runs over an eight-game span from May 25 to June 4…followed his hitting streak by going 6-for-37 (.162) over a 10-game stretch from June 2 to 13…then went 4-for-5 with five RBI June 15 against Memphis…began experiencing discomfort and was referred to Vanderbilt Urology, where Dr. Sam Cheng made the diagnosis of testicular cancer…Dr. Cheng performed surgery June 17…was placed on Nashville's disabled list that day and was transferred to Oakland's 60-day DL July 4…joined the A's during the penultimate series of the season at Anaheim in September but was not on the active roster…was outrighted to Nashville Oct. 6 and re-signed with the A's on Nov. 3 to a minor league deal with a spring training invite.

Was on the Opening Day roster with Pittsburgh and went 1-for-25 (.040) in 20 games before going on the disabled list in early May with plantar fasciitis in his left foot…missed the remainder of the season… made two starts in right field and one in left field…went 1-for-10 (.100) in his three starts and was 0-for- 12 with two walks as a pinch hitter…the 12 at bats were the most among Major League pinch hitters with no hits…went 1-for-23 (.043) against right-handed pitching, 0-for-2 against left-handers…in his career, he is 17-for-91 (.187) against righties, 1-for-3 (.333) against lefties…was 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position and is 0-for-20 in his career…flied out as a pinch hitter during a 13-pitch at bat in season debut on Opening Day, April 6 at Cincinnati…made his first career start in left field April 11 against Milwaukee…snapped a season-opening 0-for-13 streak with a third inning double in a start in right field against Chicago (NL) on April 23…it snapped a career-long 0-for-17 streak dating back to Sept. 21, 2014…was placed on the 15-day DL May 6 retroactive to May 4…was transferred to the 60- day DL June 26…played for Cibao in the Dominican Winter League following the season and hit .079 with a home run and three RBI in 11 games.
