Everett, 34, recently concluded his 11-year Major League playing career after appearing in 34 games with Cleveland in 2011. He compiled a career fielding percentage of .976 over 880 Major League games, mostly at shortstop and earned National League Rawlings Gold Glove Award votes in each season between 2003 and 2006 while with the Houston Astros.
Adam finished his Major League career with a batting verage of .242 (668-2758) and also appeared in 19 postseason games in 2004 and 2005 with Houston.
The Austell, Ga., native played collegiately at North Carolina State and the University of South Carolina and was then was drafted by Boston Red Sox in the first round (12th overall) of the 1998 First-Year Player Draft before being acquired from Houston prior to the 2000 season.
As Special Assistant, Adam will be in uniform most of Spring Training and will be active in infield instruction and development in both Major and Minor League camps in Goodyear. During the regular season, he will provide infield instruction and evaluation within the Indians' Player Development system.
