Was an invite to Pirates' Spring Training...was optioned to Double-A Altoona, March 14...Each of his first 11 appearances were starts, going 2-5, 4.91 (55.0 ip, 30 er) in those games...moved to the Curve's bullpen where he went 2-1, 5.47 (24.2 ip, 15 er) in 16 games...Designated for assignment, June 24...outrighted to Double-A Altoona, June 30...transferred to Indianapolis, August 10...Allowed just one run in 11.2 innings pitched for Indy (one start and two relief appearances) and had his contract selected by Pittsburgh, August 24...Made his Major League debut, August 24 vs. Milwaukee, tossing 4.1 scoreless innings with four hits allowed, two walks and one strikeout...started just the one game due to the Pirates having played two games as part of a make-up two days earlier...optioned back to Indianapolis
