CJ Alexander

CJ resides in Fort Wayne, Ind... He graduated from Bishop Verot Catholic HS (Fla.) in 2015, where he batted .380 as a junior... Attended Ball State University (Ind.) from 2016-17 before transferring to the State College of Florida in 2018, where he batted .405 with 15 homers as a junior... His father, Chuck, was drafted by the Guardians in the 15th round of the 1988 Draft, and he spent four years in their minor league system as a left-handed relief pitcher.

2023

Appeared in 17 games during Spring Training as a Minor league camp transplant and batted .391 (9-for23) with a 1.245 OPS, four extra-base hits (two HR) and six RBI... CJ was responsible for Omaha’s hardest batted ball of the season, a 115.3 mph double in the first inning on April 7 vs. Toledo... Hit 17 home runs in 92 games between rookie-level ACL Royals and Triple-A Omaha, third most among Royals farmhands... Appeared in 13 games during the Arizona Fall League and posted an .844 OPS with three home runs, five doubles and one triple, while also collecting a double and a walk in the championship game... Also earned AFL Co-Player of the Week on Oct. 28 with Cleveland’s Chase DeLauter after he slashed .292/.387/.750 in his first seven games of the fall, swatting two homers with eight RBI and six extra-base hits. 

2020

Appeared in two spring training games…Took two at-bats and went hitless with a strikeout...Ended the season ranked by MLB.com as Atlanta’s No. 18 prospect.

2019

In his first full professional season, limited to 43 games because of two separate injuries…Hit .117 (15-for-128) with two doubles, two home runs and eight RBI between High-A Florida and Double-A Mississippi...Sidelined three months with right elbow inflammation, from 4/18-7/5, and missed time with a fractured right thumb, 8-18-end of the season...Hit his only two homers in the same game, on 8/7 at Jacksonville, his first career multi-homer game.

2018

Split his debut season between three levels of the Atlanta system, combining to bat .352/.429/.495 in 52 games between the GCL Braves, rookie-level Danville and High-A Florida...Ranked in the Top 10 among Atlanta’s farmhands (min. 200 PA) in batting average (1st, .352), on-base percentage (2nd, .429), OPS (2nd, .924) and slugging percentage (4th, .495)…Played just three months after being drafted, and in each month, won a Player of the Month award from the organization – one at each level...Was the GCL Braves recipient for June, the Danville Braves recipient for July and the Florida Fire Frogs recipient for August.
