Jesus Alejo Lopez…graduated from Greenway (Phoenix, Ariz.) High School…committed to Arizona State University but signed with Cincinnati after he was selected by the Reds in the 27th round of the 2015 draft.

2024

Spent the entire season at Triple-A Gwinnett and hit .307 with four home runs, 55 RBI and 21 stolen bases in 112 games...The RBI and stolen bases were his most as a Minor Leaguer...Walked 47 times and was hit by a pitch 12 times for a .392 on-base percentage...Grounded into just one double play in 411 at bats...Ranked second in the International League in on-base percentage, fourth in batting and tied for 10th in hit by pitches…struck out 64 times and his average of 7.39 plate appearances per strikeout was fifth best in the IL...Led the Braves farm system in batting, ranked second in on-base percentage and hits (126), third in runs (63) and hit by pitches, fourth in OPS (.789), tied for fourth in doubles (21), fifth in slugging (.397) and tied for fifth in RBI...Hit .319 (38-for-119) with an .842 OPS against left-handed pitchers and .301 (88-for-292) with a .767 OPS against right-handers...Had a .313 batting average with runners in scoring position...Batted .331 with all four of his home runs in 87 night games, .220 in 25 day games...Hit .247 over innings one through five, .377 from the sixth inning on...Started 64 games at third base, 24 at second base, 15 in left field and five at designated hitter…also appeared in one game in right field…committed six errors in 68 games overall at third for a .962 fielding percentage…also had one at second base (.989 fielding percentage)...Made starts at every spot in the order…hit .364 in 20 starts batting seventh and .370 in 18 starts in the leadoff spot.

27 year-old Alejo Lopez completed his third Major League season (all with Cincinnati)...Appeared in one game with the club, Sept. 9 vs. St. Louis...Was on the big league roster for a total of three days...First, on Aug. 29-30, but did not appear, before being designated for assignment on Aug. 31 (club claimed OF Harrison Bader from New York-AL and OF Hunter Renfroe from Los Angeles-AL)...Was recalled again on Sept. 9, making his lone appearance in that night's game...Was a non-roster invitee to Major League Spring Training camp by Cincinnati...Had been designated for assignment on Feb. 8, when the club acquired OF Will Benson from Cleveland...Cleared waivers on Feb. 14 and was assigned to Triple-A Louisville...Slashed .292/.401/.410 (136-for-466) in 125 games with Triple-A Louisville...He hit seven home runs, 30 doubles and two triples, while recording 43 RBI and 76 runs...Went 18-for-22 in stolen base attempts...Led Triple-A Louisville in batting average, hits and walks (79)...Was tied for the team lead in runs, while ranking second in doubles, third in stolen bases and fourth in extra-base hits (39)...Produced a 42-game on-base streak, spanning June 8-Aug. 12...Matched 2010 National League MVP and six-time All-Star Joey Votto's Triple-A Louisville club record, set in 2007... In his four stints with the Reds made 22 starts at 2B, four starts at 3B, seven starts at DH and his only career start in LF (9/23 vs Mil)... Made his first two career appearances in RF (5/4 at Mil, 8/31 vs StL)... In 29 appearances and 19 starts after his 8/9 promotion hit .274 (3 2b, 1 3b, 1hr, 9rbi)...was the longest of his four stints on the Reds' roster... From 9/12-9/24 did not strike out in 27 consecutive plate appearances...was the third-longest active streak in the Major Leagues when snapped... In the ninth inning of the 11-4 loss on 8/16 vs Phi came off the bench to make the first pitching appearance of his Major League career...on just three pitches retired both batters faced (Bryson Stott P5, Rhys Hoskins FC/6-4)... Also pitched in the 13-4 loss on 8/29 vs St. Louis and 10-2 loss on 9/24 vs Mil... In the 7-6 loss on 9/11 at Mil, in a start at DH produced an RBI-double and his first Major League home run (2-run off Peter Strzelecki)...his three RBI and three runs scored were career highs...
