Edward Olivares (pronounced oh-lee-VAHR-es)... Wife’s name is Jailyn Araujo... His favorite player growing up was fellow Caracas native Franklin Gutierrez... He decided to play the outfield as a kid because that's where Gutierrez played.

2023

Established career-highs in games, hits, doubles, triples, home runs, RBI, stolen bases and runs scored…Was a member of an Opening Day roster for the third time in his career…Had a career-high tying nine-game hitting streak from 4/21-30, hitting .361 (13-for-36) with five doubles, one triple, and one home run…Hit a 452-foot home run on 5/28; the fourth-longest bomb of the season as a member of the Royals…Reached base safely a career-high tying four times on 6/10 at Baltimore, finishing the game 3-for-3 with a career-high tying two doubles (he also drew a 14-pitch walk to mark the longest plate appearance by a Royal that resulted in a baserunner since Alcides Escobar singled in a 14-pitch at-bat on 7/31/11)…Was on the restricted list from 6/9-10 and the 10-day injured list from 7/9-18 with a left oblique strain…Was optioned to Triple-A Omaha on 8/12 before being recalled on 9/1…Went deep twice on 9/4 vs. Chicago (AL) for the second multi-homer game of his career…Hit a pinch-hit, two-run home run on 9/6 vs. Chicago (AL) for the second pinch-hit blast of his career and the only one by a member of the Royals for the season…Had 11 of his 23 hits go for extra bases after being recalled on 9/1…Collected 16 RBI in his final 22 games after tallying 20 in his first 85 games of the season…Hit safely in 17 of his final 22 games…Led the American League (minimum 70 at-bats) with a .657 slugging percentage in September/October while also finishing third in batting average (.329)…Averaged 416 feet on his 12 home runs, which tied for the fourth-longest average home run distance in the American League (minimum 10 home runs)…Made 54 appearances (47 starts) in left field, two appearances in center field and three appearances (three starts) in right field.

2022

Olivares set career highs at the big league level in 2022 in games (53), hits (46), doubles (8), RBI (15) and walks (10), but missed a combined 96 games over two stints on the Injured List. .. He made the Opening Day roster for the second time (also, 2020 with San Diego), and through May 9, when he first landed on the IL, Olivares slashed .371/.421/.486 (13-for-35)... Olivares recorded a career-best four hits—including two doubles—in a 7-1 win vs. St. Louis on May 3... In his first game back from the IL, on June 24 vs. Oakland, Olivares recorded his first career multi-homer game, extending his career-best hit streak (which began before his stint on the IL) to nine games…later in the season, he matched that with another nine-game hit streak, which was also fragmented due to an IL stint... Both of his homers on June 24, 2022 gave Kansas City a lead, making him the first Royal to record two go-ahead HR in the same game at Kauffman Stadium since Kendrys Morales on June 26, 2016 vs. Houston... Olivares played in 21 games with Triple-A Omaha over two rehab assignments.

2021

Split the season between Kansas City and Triple-A Omaha, and was recalled nine times, including once as the 29th man for the Sept. 20 doubleheader in Cleveland...he appeared in a career-high 39 games with Kansas City and 66 games with the Storm Chasers...Hit a career-best five home runs in 101 at-bats and made starts in right field (14), left field (10) and center field (3)...Hit .378 (14-for-37) with two doubles, four homers and seven RBI with two outs, but he went 3-for-11 (.273) with two outs and RISP...Made his season debut with the Royals on May 30 at Minnesota, and recorded his first of five multi-hit games, going 2-for-4...Cracked his first home run July 3 vs. Minnesota, a go-ahead blast off Griffin Jax in the fourth to snap a 64 at-bat drought in the Majors...Of his 12 RBI, nine of them came in the seventh inning or later, and each of his last six RBI came in the eighth inning or later...He recorded four RBI in extra innings, including an RBI single in the 11th inning on Aug. 9 vs. the Yankees, a go-ahead sac. fly in the 10th inning in Seattle on Aug. 27 and a game-winning two-run homer in the 12th inning of the same game...On Aug. 27 in Seattle, he became the second player in Royals history to record two go-ahead RBI in extra innings of the same game, joining Yuniesky Betancourt on June 17, 2012 at St. Louis...Hit all five of his home runs in an 11-game span from July 3-Aug. 27, a stretch in which he recorded nine of his 12 RBI with an .821 slugging pct...Capped his season-best, six-game on-base streak with a seventh-inning solo home run on Aug. 5 at the White Sox off Reynaldo López...With Omaha, he slashed .313/.397/.559 (80-for-256) with 30 extra-base hits (15 HR), 36 RBI and 54 runs...from the start of the season through June 30, he ranked second among Triple-A players (min. 150 PA) in batting average (.366), fourth in on-base percentage (.433) and third in OPS (1.030).

2020

Appeared in 18 of the Royals’ last 27 games after being acquired on Aug. 29 from San Diego with a player to be named (RHP Dylan Coleman) for RHP Trevor Rosenthal...Made the Padres’ Opening Day roster and played in 13 games, batting .176/.222/.294 (6-for-34) with a double, a homer and three RBI...Recorded his first career hit in his Major League debut on July 25 with San Diego, a double off Arizona’s Robbie Ray in the fourth inning...Hit his first career home run with San Diego on Aug. 7 vs. Arizona, a pinch-hit solo shot in the fifth inning off left hander Alex Young...Batted .274/.292/.419 (17-for-62) with a double, triple, two homers and seven RBI with Kansas City…that included hitting safely in his first seven games with the Royals, matching Kendrys Morales (2015) for the seventh-longest streak to a start a Royals career…went 12-for-31 (.387) with four extra-base hits, including two homers, five runs scored and six RBI during the streak, which he capped with a two-hit effort in Cleveland on Sept. 10...Slashed .283/.283/.478 (13-for-46) with six RBI vs. American League Central foes, and all four of his extra-base hits with the Royals came within the division...Went 7-for-9 (.778) with a double and two homers when putting the first pitch in play, and his two first-pitch homers tied for second on the team...Recorded seven two-hit games—six of which came with the Royals—including a single and a double in his Royals debut on Sept. 3 vs. the White Sox…also reached safely three times on two hits and one walk twice, on July 29 at San Francisco (with San Diego) and Sept. 22 vs. St. Louis... 2019

Spent the entire season with Amarillo (AA) and set career highs in HR (18), RBI (77) and SB (35)...slashed .283/.349/.453 in 127 games for the Sod Poodles...Was named the TL Player of the Week for the week of May 5 after batting .354 with 8 HR (including 1 inside-the-park HR), 7 RBI, 2 BB, 4 SB and 9 runs scored...Named a Mid-Season TL All-Star, batting .269 (65-for-242) with 16 2B, 9 HR, 42 RBI and 14 SB during the 1st half… started in RF at the TL All-Star game in Tulsa, Okla., going 1-for-3 with 1 BB and 1 SB...With RISP, hit .333 (42-for-126) with 59 RBI...In 9 postseason games for the 2019 TL Champion Sod Poodles, Olivares slashed .361/.410/.500 with 2 2B, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 4 BB and 5 runs scored…delivered the go-ahead 3-run 2B in the 8th inning of Game 1 against the Tulsa Drillers in the TL Championship Series...Ranked as the Padres' No. 23 prospect entering the 2019 season. 

2018

Spent the entire season with Lake Elsinore (A), slashing .277/.321/.429 with career highs in hits (147), at-bats (531), games played (129) and SB (21)...Ranked second in the California League in games played, at-bats, tied for second in triples (10), third in hits, fourth in runs (79), tied for eighth in XBH (47) and ninth in SB...Hit safely in 16 of his 29 April games with 10 multi-hit efforts at a .284 (29-for-102) clip with seven doubles, three HR and three SB...Went on to hit .237 (27-for-114) in May and .286 (30-for-105) in June...earned CL Mid-Season All-Star honors...Hit safely in a career-high 13 straight games immediately after the All-Star break from 6/21-7/4 at a .375 (21-for-56) clip...In his 62 second half games he slashed .300/.346/.462 with nine doubles, five triples, seven HR and 12 SB...hit safely in 12 of his final 14 games from 8/21-9/3 to close the season...Played in 29 games for Tigres de Aragua of the Venezuelan Winter League following the season, slashing .340/.404/.479 seven XBH, 14 RBI and 15 runs scored.

2017

Spent the majority of the season with Lansing (A) while also spending time with Dunedin (A), logged 231 total bases, 27 doubles, 17 HR, 72 RBI and 93 runs scored...Hit safely in a then-career-high 12 consecutive games from May 31-June 15 (.317) with 6 HR, homering in back-to-back games on May 31 and June 1 and in 3 straight for the 1st time in his career from June 9-11...Earned Midwest League Player of the Week honors for the week of July 9...Following the season, he was acquired by the SD along with RHP Jared Carkuff in exchange for INF Yangervis Solarte on January 6.
