In his 2nd Major League campaign, Martin was effective out of the bullpen in a season slowed by a pair of injured list stints...posted the 2nd-lowest ERA (1.84) on the Texas staff behind only Kyle Cody (1.59)…on injured list, 8/13- 31, with left rotator cuff inflammation and 7/16-27, missing the start of the regular season...made season debut on 8/1 at SF (1.1 IP, 1 R-ER), which marked his 1st game action since the original Spring Training after he did not return in time to appear in Summer Camp intra squads...posted a 1.93 ERA (1 ER/4.2 IP) while holding opponents 1-for-15 over five G during 1st stint on active roster, then had a 1.80 ERA (2 ER/10.0 IP) over 10 G in September following his return from the IL…opponents batted .157/.279/.333/.612...allowed runs in five of 15 G...did not permit multiple runs in any outing, and permitted multiple hits just once...no HR allowed in 1st 8 G/7.2 IP, 2 HR allowed in last 7 G/7.0 IP...season high was 1.1 IP (three times)...stranded nine of 10 inherited runners...earned only win despite allowing designated runner to score in the 10th inning on 9/25 vs. HOU (1.0 IP, 1 R-0 ER), a 5-4 Texas win in the 1st-ever extra-innings game at Globe Life Field.

NASHVILLE: Spent the balance of the season at Nashville (AAA), posting no record with one save, a 0.71 ERA (1 ER/12.2 IP), and 1.105 WHIP figure across 10 relief outings…was scoreless in final 11 G/11.1 IP, with lone run allowed coming in season debut on 4/4 vs. Iowa…held opponents 10-for-47 (.213) with 2 XBH (2B, 3B)…marked his 1st career action at the Triple-A level.
2018
Spent the entire season with Double-A Frisco, recording career highs in games (29) and strikeouts (96)…logged 89.0 innings, the 2nd-highest total of his career and most since the 2015 campaign with Hickory (95.1)…also had career highs in losses (10), ERA (7.28), hits allowed (138), and runs allowed (78)…did not spend any time on the disabled list, his 1st campaign without time spent on the DL since 2014…served a split role for Frisco, beginning season in the rotation before moving to the bullpen in early June…returned to the rotation for portions of the 2nd half, making back-to-back starts in mid-July and to close the season…went 1-9 with a 8.61 ERA (59 ER/61.2 IP) in 15 starts and 1-1 with a 4.28 ERA (13 ER/27.1 IP) in 14 relief outings…had higher SO/9 rate (10.9) and lower WHIP (1.390) as a reliever compared to marks as a starter (9.2 SO/9, 2.092 WHIP)…logged 2.0-or-more IP in 12 of 14 relief outings.

Was limited to 17 starts due to injury, but made a late season return and led High Desert to a California League championship…combined to go 4-4 with a 4.41 ERA (34 ER/69.1 IP) over 17 starts with Hickory, the AZL Rangers, and High Desert…opened the season with Hickory and was 2-3 with a 4.53 ERA (22 ER/43.2 IP) over 9 starts…was on the disabled list, 6/16-8/8, with a left elbow strain…made a pair of starts with the AZL Rangers on rehab assignment, 8/3-7, allowing one run over 2.1 innings…promoted to High Desert upon activation from the disabled list and was 2-1 with a 4.24 ERA (11 ER/23.1 IP) over 6 regular season starts for the Mavericks…was 1-0 with a 2.19 ERA (3 ER/12.1 IP) and 24 strikeouts against 3 walks in a pair of postseason starts…tossed 7.0 no-hit innings with 15 strikeouts in High Desert's 1-0 victory in Game 2 of the championship series at Visalia…started 3 games for the Surprise Saguaros in the Arizona Fall League, going 1-1 with a 2.89 ERA (3 ER/9.1 IP).
