Considers himself a very good cook…his specialties include arroz habichuela (a ham, rice, and beans dish), steak, and pasta…his favorite dish is rice with pork meat and Dominican seasoning... Was Little League teammates with Amed Rosario (CLE) and Ramón Laureano (OAK)…Leyba was the shortstop, Rosario played third base and Laureano played center field... Participated in MLB's Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (R.B.I.) program in Santo Domingo…his team played in the R.B.I. World Series in Minnesota in 2011 where he was discovered by scouts.

Began the season in the D'backs organization and played in eight games for Reno (AAA)...hit .457 with 2 2B, 1 3B, 4 HR, 14 RBI and nine runs scored before having his contract selected by the ARI on May 15... Went hitless in 22 at-bats for ARI before being designated for assignment on June 2...claimed off waivers by BAL on June 4 and optioned to Norfolk (AAA)... Hit .275 with 1 2B, 5 HR, 20 RBI and seven runs scored across 18 games for NOR before being called up to BAL on June 27... Appeared in 21 games for the Orioles and hit .154 before being optioned back to NOR on Aug 2...DFA'd by BAL on Aug. 2, cleared waivers and was outrighted to NOR on Aug. 8 before being released on Aug. 19... Signed by TEX to a minor league contract on Sept. 3 and was assigned to Round Rock (AAA), where he hit .288 with 7 2B, 2 3B, 4 HR, 26 RBI and 12 runs scored across 24 games... While with BAL, made 14 appearances (11 starts) at 2B and nine appearances (8 starts) at 3B...while with ARI, made seven appearances (5 starts) at 2B and one appearance at 3B.

Batted .280 with two doubles, one triple and five RBI in 21 games over two stints in his first Major League season...Recalled from Triple-A Reno on June 22 and collected his first hit (single) later that night off the Giants’ Mark Melancon (photo below)…Hit .300 (137-for-457) with 37 doubles, three triples, 19 home runs, 77 RBI, 32 walks and 85 runs scored in 112 games with the Aces.

Batted .269/.344 OBP/.381 SLG with 17 doubles, two triples, five home runs and 30 RBI in 83 games with Double-A Jackson...On disabled list from April 5-May 19 with a right shoulder subluxation...Was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2018 Double-A Southern League Championship Series after he hit .333 (6-for-18) in four games, including going 4-for-6 with four RBI in Game 3.

Was limited to just 23 games due to 3 stints on the disabled list and hit .279 (24-for-86) with 5 doubles, 3 home runs and 15 RBI with Short-Season A Hillsboro and Double-A Jackson...Began the season on the disabled list with a tear in his right shoulder capsule (April 6-June 22), then suffered a strained right hamstring (June 30-July 8) and a season-ending dislocated right shoulder on July 17 vs. Montgomery.
