Graduated from Eunice (LA) High School, where he was a Louisville Slugger All-American in 2009...from 2008-2010 was All-District and All-State...lettered for 3 seasons in football and was All-District in 2009...attended junior college at LSU-Eunice, where he was named Easton Defensive Player of the Year, Rawlings Gold Glove Award winner and Academic All-American with a 4.0 GPA...transferred to the University of Mississippi for the 2013 season and was a Louisville Slugger/CollegeBaseballInsider.com first-team All-American (62g, .374, 15 2B, 5 HR, 51 RBI).

2017

Was a December 2016 Rule 5 Draft selection from the Twins and around a stint on the disabled list spent the season on the Reds' roster...in his Major League debut made 37 apps and 18 starts...made 5 of his 18 starts in the Reds' first 20 games of the season, while Devin Mesoraco was disabled the first time...was 1 of 7 rookies on the Reds' Opening Day roster...became the first Reds catcher to skip Class AAA since Tucker Barnhart made the 2014 Opening Day roster...from 5/20-6/17 was on the 10-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring...from 5/28-6/16 made 15 rehab apps for Louisville (14-59, .237, 3rbi)...from 8/25-8/27 was on the paternity list for the birth of son Easton Michael...on 4/6 vs Phi started in his Major League debut...RHP Rookie Davis on 4/6 also started in his debut...for the first time in franchise history, since 1869, the Reds' starting battery mates made big league debuts in the same game...also on 4/6, Phillies starting C Andrew Knapp made his debut...was only the second time since 1900 that both teams' starting catchers made Major League debuts in the same game (9/4/2010, Det's Max St. Pierre & KC's Lucas May)...in the third inning on 4/9 at StL doubled off Carlos Martinez for his first career hit...was his sixth career plate appearance, his third career appearance in a game and his second career start...on 8/9 vs SD produced his first career home run (2-run off Travis Wood)...hit his second home run 5 apps later, on 8/31 vs NYM (2-run off Erik Goeddel)...entered the season rated the best defensive catcher in the organization.

2016

Spent the season at Class AA Chattanooga, where he led the Lookouts with 97 apps behind the plate...produced 22 doubles and 41 RBI, both career highs...following the season was selected by the Reds in the second round of the Major League phase of the Rule 5 Draft...for the third straight year was a non-roster invitee to Major League spring training camp...entered the season rated by MLB.com the Twins' No. 18 prospect.
