Born in Mt. Juliet, Tenn...He and his wife, Amber, live in Mt. Juliet during the offseason...Carroll supports his wife's family charity, We Are Team Jake, which focuses on suicide prevention in honor of Amber's brother who passed away in 2019...Graduated from Mt. Juliet (TN) High School where he ended up having Tommy John surgery the during the spring of his senior year...Went 8-7 with a 3.50 ERA and 131 strikeouts over three seasons at Southern Miss...Originally drafted by the Yankees in the 22nd round of the 2015 draft.

2021

Opened the season with Triple-A Norfolk in Baltimore's system but would end the year in the Marlins organization...Began the year at the Orioles Alternate Site and was then transferred to Triple-A Norfolk to open the minor league season...Made 22 appearances out of the bullpen for the Tides, striking out 23 batters in 21.0 innings of work...Released by Baltimore on Aug. 2...Signed by Miami to a minor league contract Aug. 24...worked his way to end the season at Triple-A Jacksonville.

2020

Appeared on his first career Opening Day roster...Worked a season-high 1.2 innings on 8/14 vs. WSH; fourth time in his career working more than 1.0 inning...Struck out a season-high two batters on 8/14 vs. WSH; his fourth career game with multiple strikeouts...Allowed a career-high six runs in his outing on 8/14 vs. WSH 

2019

Spent the majority of the season injured (back)...Made seven appearances during Spring Training, working to a 2.57 ERA (2 ER/7.0 IP) with nine strikeouts and three saves...Made two rehab appearances for the GCL Orioles in August (0.00 ERA (0 ER/2.0 IP), 5 K)...Pitched for the Surprise Saguaros in the Arizona Fall League following the season; appeared in nine games, posting a 2.08 ERA (2 ER/8.2 IP) with 11 strikeouts.

2018

Made his Major League debut on 8/1 at NYY; tossed 1.0 scoreless inning in relief, allowing one hit... Worked a career-high 2.1 innings while striking out a career-best four batters on 9/17 vs. TOR... Named an International League Mid-Season All-Star... Made five appearances for Triple-A Norfolk, going 1-0 with a 5.79 ERA (3 ER/4.2 IP)... Made 37 combined appearances at the Triple-A level, going 4-0 with a 2.72 ERA (14 ER/46.1 IP), 58 strikeouts, and 22 walks... Did not allow a home run in his 37 minor league appearances (178 batters faced)... At Triple-A, left-handers hit .257 (19-for-74) against him, while righties hit .132 (12-for-91)...Acquired by the Orioles from the New York Yankees along with RHP Dillon Tate and LHP Josh Rogers in exchange for LHP Zach Britton on 7/24.

Split the season between Single-A Tampa and Double-A Trenton, going 3-5 with seven saves and a 2.54 ERA (67.1IP, 46H, 22R/19ER, 30BB, 89K, 5HR) in 39 relief appearances…his 11.90 K/9.0IP ratio ranked third among Yankees farmhands (min. 50.0IP)…combined for a .191 opponents' BA (46-for-241); LH .160 (16-for-100); RH .213 (30-for-141)…made his first 13 appearances with Tampa and went 1-0 with two saves and a 2.25 ERA (20.0IP, 10H, 7R/5ER, 8BB, 30K, 1HR)…was named a Florida State League Mid-Season All-Star…was promoted to Trenton on 5/27 and went 2-5 with five saves and a 2.66 ERA (47.1IP, 36H, 15R/14ER, 22BB, 59K, 4HR) in 26 relief appearances…following the season, made nine scoreless relief appearances for the Scottsdale Scorpions of the Arizona Fall League (11.2IP, 2H, 5BB, 18K).

2016

Spent the entire season with Single-A Charleston, going 4-4 with three saves and a 3.15 ERA (91.1IP, 89H, 45R/32ER, 41BB, 90K, 3HR) in 26 games (six starts)…was named to the South Atlantic League Mid-Season All-Star Team…limited right-handed hitters to a .214 (41-for-192) BA…allowed just 1ER in 21.0IP (0.43 ERA) over his final seven appearances.

2015

Went 1-1 with three saves and a 1.75 ERA (25.2IP, 16H, 5ER, 14BB, 26K) in 14 relief appearances in his professional debut with Rookie-level Pulaski…opponents batted .186 (16-for-86) with lefties batting only .103 (4-for-39)…did not allow a run in his final seven appearances of the season (14.2IP)…appeared in one postseason game for the club, tossing 1.1 scoreless innings of relief (1H, 1BB).
