Pitched in the Dominican Winter League for the Gigantes del Cibao, posting a 1.29 ERA in his four appearances (two starts)... Was teammates on the club with OF Luis Liberato and former Padres, Webster Rivas and Ivan Castillo.
2013
Began season in Dodgers' system prior to trade to Miami on July 6. Opened year with Single-A Great Lakes and made 14 starts through June 20 before being assigned to Single-A Rancho Cucamonga. Appeared in just two games (one start) for Quakes prior to trade to Marlins and assignment to Single-A Jupiter. Had 4.67 ERA (81.0 IP/42 ER) in 16 appearances (15 starts) in Dodgers' system, but rebounded with mark of 3.22 (50.1/18) in 10 starts for Hammerheads. Tossed 6.0 hitless innings on July 22 at Clearwater, earning a combined no-hitter with Colby Suggs and James Nygren in a 5-0 win. Was second combined no-hitter in Jupiter's 16-year history. Sanchez, who was making just third start with Hammerheads, struck out three and walked two batters. Had 1.69 ERA through first five starts for Jupiter, with 2-1 record, before allowing four earned runs on August 7 at Palm Beach, the most runs he allowed in a start for Hammerheads. Earned win in two of last three starts on season, and allowed three-or-fewer runs in last four. Had season-high eight strikeouts on April 25 at Cedar Rapids, May 6 vs. Wisconsin, and May 11 at Lansing, all with Great Lakes. Highest strikeout total during time in Marlins' organization was seven, on July 27 at Dunedin, which was tied for his shortest start (4.0 innings) with Jupiter. Longest outing for Jupiter was 6.2 innings on August 1 vs. Brevard County; did not factor in decision, despite allowing just two hits and no runs, with two walks and five strikeouts. Longest outings of season were two 7.0-inning starts for Great Lakes, including one-hit, scoreless outing, with a walk and eight strikeouts, on May 6 vs. Wisconsin (no-decision).
