On 7/30 was acquired from the Braves, along with RHP Lucas Sims and OF Preston Tucker, in exchange for LF Adam Duvall...the next day was optioned to Louisville and made 2 starts and 6 relief apps there...was promoted from Louisville on 8/31, when RHP Austin Brice was optioned...in that night's 12-5 loss at StL, made his Reds debut by pitching scoreless sixth and seventh innings in relief of starter Homer Bailey...became the 31st pitcher to appear for the Reds this season...2 days later, Lucas Sims became the 32nd pitcher to appear for the Reds, tying the 2016 franchise record for pitchers in a season...didn't allow an earned run in 9 of his 11 apps for the Reds.
2017
Split his season between Atlanta and Triple-A Gwinnett, appearing in 20 games for the Braves, 19 out of the bullpen... Began the year in Gwinnett's rotation, before he was recalled to Atlanta on 4/23 for the first of six stints with the Braves…Optioned back on 5/3… Also up from 5/25-6/2, 6/10 as the 26th man for a doubleheader, 7/5, 7/24-7/26 and 8/19 through the end of the season... Made his lone start for the Braves on 6/10 in Game 2 of a doubleheader with NYM…Lost 8-1 after going 6.0 innings and allowing four runs, earned... Split the season between Atlanta and Triple-A Gwinnett after the Braves acquired him on 4/5 in a trade that sent Craig Kimbrel and Melvin Upton, Jr. to SD…Finished fifth among NL rookies with eight wins and eighth with 109.0 IP…Won his Major League debut, 6/19 vs. NYM, after the Braves selected his contract earlier that day. Tossed 8.0 innings and allowed one run, earned, and no walks to become the first Braves starter to win his first career game since Kenshin Kawakami on 4/11/09 vs. WSH…Became the second Atlanta starter in franchise history (since 1966) to go at least 8.0 innings and allow one run or less in his debut, joining John Smoltz, who tossed 8.0 innings and allowed one run on 7/23/88 at NYM. Prior to Wisler, the last Major Leaguer to go at least 8.0 innings and allow one run or fewer in his debut was MIN's Andrew Albers on 8/6/13 at KC…Needed only 88 pitches to complete the 8.0 innings in his debut, becoming the first pitcher since 1988, when pitch counts were first recorded, to go as long in his first Major League game in as few pitches…Went 8.0 innings with no walks in his debut.
