Did not pitch in the Major Leagues after he underwent a meniscal debridement procedure on his right knee on 5/6… opened season with Triple-A Iowa after being optioned on 3/25 and made two starts before being shut down due to issues with the knee…was on the Injured List from 5/15-7/23, including rehab stints with the Rookie-level ACL Cubs (6/24-7/3) and Iowa (7/4-23)…activated 7/24 and outrighted to Triple-A… traded to Tampa Bay, along with RHP Manuel Rodríguez and future considerations, in exchange for RHP Josh Roberson and international signing bonus pool space…did not pitch in Rays organization before he was released on 8/3.

Adrian enjoyed his best major league season in 2021 after signing a minor league contract with the Cubs in May... Went 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA (8 ER/24.0 IP) in five starts, compared to 0-1 with a 2.38 ERA (3 ER/11.1 IP) in five relief outings with Chicago... Did not allow more than two earned runs in any appearance... Made his Cubs debut on Aug. 18 at Cincinnati (1 ER/4.0 IP) after having his contract purchased from Triple-A Iowa... The start marked his first major league appearance since Sept. 27, 2019 with the Texas Rangers... Earned his first major league win since June 23, 2019 on Sept. 14 in Philadelphia (2 ER/5.0 IP)... Struck out a season-high seven batters in his final start on Oct. 2 at St. Louis... Went 4-5 with a 4.96 ERA (45 ER/81.2 IP) in 16 games (14 starts) for Iowa... Made major league debut with the Mariners, but was injured warming up prior to his next outing and missed the remainder of the season...allowed 4 R over 4.2 innings in his lone outing on 6/18 at BOS…did not throw a pitch in his final scheduled outing on 6/23 at DET, leaving that contest after warming up due to injury…had surgery to repair a flexor tendon in his right elbow on 6/30…spent the balance of the season with Triple-A Tacoma, going 7-4 with a 3.25 ERA (29 ER/80.1 IP) over 13 games/ starts…received by Texas on waivers from Seattle on 11/2 and was outrighted to the minors on 11/18.
