Began season with Double-A New Britain and posted a 1.17 ERA (15.1 IP, 2 ER) in first three starts. Made three consecutive starts for the Rock Cats with 7.0-or-more innings May 12-23, posting a 1.56 ERA in that span. Named Twins minor league Player of the Week May 26, going 1-1, 0.60 ERA (15.0 IP, 1 ER) with nine hits allowed, one walk and 15 strikeouts in two starts. Named International League Player of the Week June 24, pitching a complete game shutout, allowing four hits, one walk and nine strikeouts June 20 at Erie. Promoted to Triple-A Rochester June 24...made 11 appearances (10 starts), including four quality starts for the Red Wings. Pitched 8.0 scoreless innings August 18 vs. Louisville. Tossed a combined 153.2 innings between New Britain and Rochester recording 120 strikeouts and just 45 walks...ranked second among Twins minor leaguers in strikeouts. Added to Twins 40-man roster November 20.

Began season with Single-A Beloit...promoted to Single-A Ft. Myers May 16 and went 8-3, including five straight wins June 8-July 15...promoted to Double-A New Britain August 11 and won first start at Double-A, tossing 7.2 innings without allowing an earned run August 12 at Bowie...ranked 22nd best prospect in Twins organization by Baseball America entering the 2012 season.
