Began the 2017 season in the New York Yankees organization, before being claimed off waivers by Texas on April 30...Had a pair of hits, including a home run, on May 21 at Detroit...was his first home run since April 2, 2013 at Arizona.

Began the season on the Opening Day roster in St. Louis for his second consecutive season...Spent the majority of the season in Memphis (AAA), batting .248 with 8 HR and 54 RBI in 117 games (96 games at SS)...Batted .304 (7-23) in 14 MLB games in 2014 and .263 in Sept. Began the season at Memphis (AAA), playing in 131 games until a recall toSt. Louis on 8/31. Was recalled on 8/31 when R.Furcal was placed on the disabled list and became club's every day shortstop down the stretch. Played in 26 of the final 31 games and started the final 16 games at short(made 22 starts overall). Collected hits in 15 of 22 starts, batting .330 (23-69, 14 RBI); 10 of 22 hits were extra base hits (5-2Bs, 3-3Bs, 2 HRs). Had RBI in 7 of final 11 games. His 11 RBI in Sept. were the most by a Cards SS since Edgar Renteria's 19 in 2003. Finished September ranked T2nd among NL players in triples (3), 6th in slugging (.619), 8th in batting (.349) and OPS(1.005). Made his first start at WSH on 9/2 and was 1-3 with a run, picking up a 2-out hit to start a 7th inn.rally. Facing Nationals 9/28-
30 he went 7-11(.640) with two doubles and six RBI. Missed hitting for the cycle by a HR at SD (9/10) w/career-best 3 hits; had 3 hits three separate times. Recorded his 1st Major League stolen base on 9/16 and had two steals, the 2nd on 9/21 at CHI as the team's first straight steal
of home since 2002 (K.Robinson). Hit his first Major League HR 9/23 at CHI, his 2nd HR came the very next day on 9/24 at HOU. Had RBI in four consecutive games, 9/22-25. Had season high 4-game hit streak 9/2-11 and had three 3-game streaks, the last 9/28-30 (.640; 7-11, 2-2Bs, 6 RBI).
At Memphis batted .232 with 11 HR and a team-leading 63 RBI. Hit .563 (9-16) with 20 RBI when the bases were loaded. 2012 POSTSEASON: Was the starting shortstop for all 13 postseason games, playing every inning at that position.
