Drew joins the Cubs as a non-roster invitee to Spring Training having pitched in parts of the last five seasons with Philadelphia (2008-11), San Diego (2011) and Toronto (2012) ... owns a 1-1 record with a 7.56 ERA (28 ER/33.1 IP) in 23 games (one start) in the big leagues. ...His 12 appearances in 2011 between the Phillies and Padres marked his most extensive major league action in a season. ...Has struck out 33 in 33.1 major league innings (8.9 strikeouts per 9.0 innings pitched). ...Owns a 56-39 record with a 3.50 ERA (304 ER/782.1 IP) in 174 games (117 starts) in seven seasons at the minor league level. ...Has recorded 611 strikeouts compared to 233 walks in the minors. ...Originally selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the second round of the 2006 draft out of Long Beach State. ...Is a 2003 graduate of Vacaville (Calif.) Began the year in Toronto's system and made six July relief appearances with the Blue Jays before he was designated for assignment, August 4 ... he elected free agency and signed a minor league deal with the Mets, August 9, pitching for Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Buffalo in the season's final month. ...After starting the year with Triple-A Las Vegas, had his contract purchased by Toronto, July 3. ...Posted a 5.00 ERA (5 ER/9.0 IP) in six relief appearances ... recorded a career-high five strikeouts in 4.0 innings of work, July 25 vs. Oakland. ...Went a combined 6-3 with three saves and a 3.09 ERA (29 ER/84.1 IP) in 31 games (12 starts) between Binghamton, Las Vegas and Buffalo. ...Struck out 72 while issuing just 21 free passes in 84.1 innings. ...Allowed just one earned run in 9.2 innings (0.93 ERA) in 10 games in the Mets minor league system between Binghamton and Buffalo.

Appeared in six games in relief for both Philadelphia and San Diego... Combined to go 0-0 with a 7.98 ERA... Spent the majority of his season at Lehigh Valley (AAA) in the Phillies organization... Held opponents to a .213 average, recording a WHIP of 0.98... His 1.79 ERA was the best on the club for anyone with 60+ innings of work... ON TO SAN DIEGO: Was claimed off outright waivers from the Philadelphia Phillies on Sept. 2... Worked scoreless ball in four of his six outings for the Padres... Held opposing hitters to a .213 (48-for-225) opponents batting average at Triple-A Lehigh Valley in 2011.

Went a combined 9-12, 4.59 ERA, 42 BB, 106 SO in 25 starts between Reading (AA), Clearwater (A) and Lehigh Valley (AAA)...Began the season at Reading ...Was on the disabled list at Reading (turf toe on right foot), 5/30-6/16...Threw two CG with Clearwater, the first a 7.0-inning SHO, 6/27 at St. Lucie (gm 2) and the 2nd, 7/21 at Jupiter (W, 9.0 IP, ER)...Was transferred back to Reading in early August and went 3-1, 4.00 ERA (12 ER, 27.0 IP) in 4 starts, 8/6-22...Had a season-high 8 SO, 8/22 at Trenton (W, 7.0 IP, 2 H, R, 0 ER) and was named Phillies Minor League Pitcher of the Week, 8/18-24...Had his contract purchased on 8/27 and pitched 1.0 scoreless inning in relief in his ML debut that night vs NYM; was optioned to Reading following the game...Was transferred to Lehigh Valley where he made his final start of the season, 8/31 at Pawtucket (L, 7.0 IP, 6 H, 2 ER).
