Missed the entire season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in the team's first
full-squad workout Feb. 27 in Phoenix...was placed on the 60-day disabled list March 3 and underwent
successful reconstructive surgery March 21...the surgery was performed by Dr. Douglas Freedberg of
the Arizona Sports Medicine Center of Scottsdale.
2011
Was acquired from Detroit May 27 for David Purcey and was promoted to Oakland June 6...started 88
of the A's final 102 games at third base, batting .249 with 11 home runs and 52 RBI in 93 games...during
his period with Oakland, his home runs were second most on the team and the RBI tied for second
best...however, led the A's with 93 strikeouts over that span...the only player in Athletics history with
more strikeouts in fewer than 100 games is Jose Canseco, with 104 in 97 games in 1992...had a .433
slugging percentage with the A's as 33 of his 76 hits were for extra bases (21 doubles, 1 triple)...also
hit .222 in 17 games with the Tigers and had a .245 batting average, 11 home runs, 56 RBI and 112
strikeouts in 110 games overall...batted .360 with runners in scoring position, including .385 with RISP
and two outs...ranked sixth in the American League in batting with RISP and two outs...hit .199 with
the bases empty compared to .302 with runners on...batted .294 (35-for-119) against left-handed pitching,

OAKLAND: Was assigned to Triple-A Sacramento following the trade and batted .267 with a home run

Opened the 2010 season as the Tigers starting second baseman before he split time between Detroit and Triple A
Toledo.
