Split the season between Seattle, Class AAA Tacoma and Class AAA Norfolk in the Baltimore organization… started the season at Tacoma before being recalled by Seattle on 5/29 … appeared in eight games, including four starts at first base … made his season debut on 5/30 at San Diego (0-1) … recorded his only hit of the season, a double, on 6/9 vs. the Yankees … was optioned to Tacoma on 6/18 and designated for assignment on 6/28 … was traded by the Mariners to Baltimore in exchange for cash considerations on 7/6 … was optioned to Norfolk the same day and finished the season with the Tides … combined to hit .245 (104-425) with 20 doubles, five triples, 15 home runs, 65 RBI and 66 runs scored over 108 games between Tacoma and Norfolk … hit .348 (24-69) with three homers and 31 RBI with RISP and .321 (9-28) with 11 RBI with RISP/two outs with the Rainiers … recorded 18 multihit and 12 multiRBI efforts … homered with five RBI on 7/10 vs. Gwinnett --...appeared in five games with Team Italy at the World Baseball Classic, hitting .235 (4-17).

Made his Major League debut Sept. 7 at LAA starting at third base...became the first graduate of the Major League Baseball International European Academy to play in the Major Leagues...also the first Italian-born and developed player
