Spent his second full season at Triple-A Colorado Springs where he was used as a regular starter...led the Sky Sox in wins (10), was second in strikeouts (100), ERA among starters (5.91) and innings pitched (141.2)...His 28 appearances were tied for a career-high while he also collected the most strikeouts since 2007 while with High-A Modesto...Tossed his second career complete game 8/8 allowing five runs on 10 hits over 6.0 innings...Went 8-4, 5.02 (86.0 ip, 48 er) prior to the All-Star break while going 2-4, 7.28 (55.2 ip, 45 er) after.
2009
Got his first experience in Triple-A with Colorado Springs, and was one of the club's regular starters...finished second on the club with 143.0 innings pitched and tied for first with 10 wins...also made the second-most starts on the squad with 24...struggled in his home starts, posting a 7.31 ERA (56.2 ip, 46 er) in 11 games/9 starts, compared to a 4.59 ERA (86.1 ip, 44 er) in 15 starts on the road.

Spent the entire season with Double-A Tulsa and led the club in starts (28) and innings pitched (175.2)...his 175.2 innings were the second-most in the Texas League and his 28 starts were tied for second- most...finished second on the club with 92 strikeouts...led the TL with 14 losses...175.2 innings pitched is a career-high and the third consecutive season he has tossed 160.0 innings or more.
2007
Finished third in the California League with a 2.99 ERA as he won a career-best 14 games...also won 2 games in 2 starts with Tulsa on 5/8 and 5/20 to match High-A Modesto teammate Brandon Hynick for the second-most wins in the organization with 16 victories...did not allow a run in surrendering 7 hits over 13.0 innings in those 2 starts with Tulsa...his 14 wins were second-most in the Cal League...his 168.2 innings pitched were both third-most on the club and third-highest in the Cal League...along with Brandon Hynick and Chaz Roe formed a trio of starting pitchers for Modesto that went a combined 35-23, 3.26 (521.1 ip, 189 er) in 83 starts (54 quality starts), with 386 strikeouts compared to 151 walks, all while finishing 1,2,3 in the California League in innings pitched (Hynick, Roe, Johnson)...did not allow a run in his final 2 starts (14.0 ip) to finish with a 2.99 ERA...tossed a complete game 4-hitter in 6/16.

Won a career-best 13 games for Low-A Asheville...ranked among the South Atlantic League Leaders in wins (T4th) and innings pitched (T4th)...ranked second among Rox farmhands in wins and 10th in ERA...tossed 14 quality outings...tossed 6.0 or more innings in 18 starts and allowed 3 runs or less in 20 contests...won his first 2 starts of the season, pitching 6.0 innings while allowing one earned run with 8 K's in each contest...won 3 straight games from 6/23-7/4, posting a 2.33 ERA (19.1 ip, 5 er) during that span.

Ranked second among Pioneer League leaders in strikeouts (78) and innings pitched and third among qualifiers in ERA...allowed just one home run in 79.1 innings pitched...tossed 5.0-plus innings in 12 of his 15 efforts...earned first career win in second start of the season, on 6/30, tossing 5.1 frames and allowing 3 runs on 7 hits in 9-8 win.
