Knuckleballer was coached by Luis Tiant while at Savannah College of Art and Design...set the school record with 14 strikeouts in a game in 2000...became the first pitcher from SCAD to pitch in a Major League game on 8/12/08...played college baseball freshman year at Sacramento City College and won the 1998 National Championship...sophomore year transfered to SCAD...graduated from Oak Ridge High School in El Dorado, Calif...resides in El Dorado Hills, California.
2009
Had a strong May going 4-1 with a 2.22 ERA in 28.1 IP (7 ER) with 15 K...Won three consecutive starts (3-0, 1.27 ERA, 21.1 IP, 10 H) from 5/16-27 following two relief appearances...Best outing was at LOU (5/27) throwing 7.1 scoreless innings of one-hit ball for the win...Finished the season with a win at SYR (9/6) tossing 5.0 IP, allowing one run on five hits with zero walks...Led the PawSox staff with 18 double plays induced and tied for the team lead in complete games...Led International League in losses (15), hit batsmen (30) and walks (93).

Knuckleballer was named International League Pitcher of the Year after going 14-6 and ranking 2nd in the International League and all of Triple-A with a 2.84 ERA in 28 starts at Pawtucket...ranked T-2nd in the IL with a career high in wins (14) and innings pitched (174.1)...led IL in WHIP (1.11), ranked 2nd in opp. avg. (.223) and third in fewest baserunners per 9 IP (10.53)...made his major league debut with one appearance for Boston, a spot start on 8/12 vs. Texas and gave up eight runs over 4.2 innings in a 19-17 Boston win...in that game, the teams combined to score 36 runs, tying the A.L. record for most runs, both clubs, in a game of any length...ranked 3rd among Red Sox minor league leaders in ERA and tied for the lead in wins...was one of five PawSox to earn mid-season All-Star honors and one of four named an IL post-season All-Star...allowed six runs in 5.1 innings, and took the loss in Pawtucket's playoff opener vs. SWB...allowed zero or one run in 6 of his first 19 starts at Pawtucket...at 28 years, 352 days of age, was the oldest pitcher to make his major league debut in a start for the Red Sox according to research dating back to 1956...was the oldest A.L. pitcher to debut in a start since Orlando Hernandez for the Yankees at 32 years, 235 days on 6/3/98.
2007
Ranked 3rd among Red Sox minor leaguers with 11 wins between Double-A Portland and Triple-A Pawtucket...posted a 1.00 ERA (2 ER/18.0 IP) in April, 2nd best in the Eastern League during that time...went 7-2 with a 3.11 ERA (19 ER/55.0 IP) over a span of nine starts from 5/26-7/13...named EL Pitcher of the Week for 6/18-24 during which he went 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA (3 ER/15.0 IP) in two starts, including a 9.0 inning complete-game win at CON on 6/19...missed time from 7/20-29 on the DL with a left leg injury...re-joined the PawSox on 8/3 and went 2-2 with a 4.82 ERA (20 ER/37.1 IP) over the remainder of the season... went 6.0 innings or more in 16 of his 24 starts.
2006
Complied 10 wins between stops at Portland (AA) and Pawtucket (AAA)...his nine wins with the PawSox led the club...won his only relief appearance for Portland, pitching 3.1 scoreless innings at NB on 4/10 before earning a promotion to Pawtucket three days later...combined to go 2-0 with a 5.27 ERA (17 ER/29.0) as a reliever and 8-4 with a 3.39 ERA (33 ER/87.2 IP) as a starter.
2005
Began the season with Portland, where he spent most of the year...made his first trip to Triple-A with Pawtucket...won 10 games between the stops, 3rd-most in the Red Sox farm system... went 8-5 with a 4.87 ERA in 29 outings (15 starts) for the Sea Dogs...was 5-4 with a 5.68 ERA in 15 starts and 3-1 with a 3.28 ERA in 14 relief apps...lefties hit .249 while righties batted .271.
2004
Spent majority of the year at Portland...sent to Single-A Sarasota on 7/9...pitched in three games before hitting the DL with right shoulder tendonitis on 8/7...participated in Fall Instructional League.
2003
Was the Red Sox Minor League Pitcher of the Year for Sarasota...ranked among Red Sox farmhand leaders in wins (10, T-2nd) and strikeouts (4th, 112)...ranked 4th among Red Sox minor leaguers in strikeouts (112) and 9th in ERA (3.80)...T2nd with 10 wins...T1st in Florida State League with 2 complete games...was promoted to Portland on 8/1...pitched for Mesa Desert Dogs in Arizona Fall League.

Spent most of the 2002 season in Augusta... yielded one earned run or fewer in 25 of 26 games...held teams hitless in 9 of 26 games...promoted to Sarasota, 8/19 where he issued no earned runs and two hits in his four games.
