Placed on the disabled list to start the season, March 21-April 9 due to left shoulder rehabilitation...made his first start, April 9 at Colorado, allowing six runs (all in the third inning) on five hits in 3.0 innings...optioned to Triple-A Richmond, April 10...recalled, April 17, replacing Tom Glavine (DL)...recorded his first win of the season, April 19 vs. Los Angeles (NL), allowing one run, a homer in the second inning...optioned to Richmond, April 24, going 1-1, 1.59 (17.0 ip, 3 er) for the R-Braves and recalled to Atlanta, May 10...made two starts for the Braves, allowing 10 runs in 10.0 innings...optioned back to Richmond, May 15 where he walked 18 batters in 21.1 innings pitched...placed on the disabled list, May 24-June 4...recalled to Atlanta, August 1 and made two starts for the Braves...optioned back to Richmond, August 8, through the rest of the season.

Opened the season at Class-A Myrtle Beach (4/8-5/9) and went 3-3 with a 1.08 ERA in seven games. ... Was promoted to Mississippi (AA) from 5/14 to 8/4 and went 9-1 with a 2.09 ERA in 16 games before finishing the minor league season at Richmond (AAA), where he was 1-3 with a 3.48 in six games. ... Had his contract purchased by the Braves on 9/15 and he appeared in two games, allowing one run and fanning five batters in 5.2 innings of work. ... Made his Major League debut on 9/28 vs. COL with 2.0 IP and three strikeouts. His first career strikeout victim was Brad Hawpe.

2004
