Spent the minor league season at Omaha (AAA)...after dropping his fi rst 6 decisions and posting a 5.16 ERA in the fi rst half, his ERA dropped to 3.51 in the second half...recalled from Omaha on September 5...Recorded his fi rst Major League save in his fi rst appearance of the year on September 10 vs. Detroit.

2008

Began 2008 at Northwest Arkansas (AA), making 8 starts and going 4-2 with a 1.20 ERA...was promoted to Omaha on May 13...was recalled by the Royals on June 12...Made his Major League debut on June 14 at Arizona, tossing a scoreless inning, striking out 1...made just 1 more appearance before being optioned to Omaha on June 22...Struggled with injuries the second half of the season for Omaha before being recalled and placed on the 60-day D.L. on September 2 with a right elbow strain.

2006

Bounced back after missing the entire 2005 season following Tommy John surgery to be named Royals Minor League Pitcher of the Year and Burlington Pitcher of the Year after compiling an 8-6 record with a 2.53 ERA in 24 starts... his 2.53 ERA was 4th in the Midwest League...Led the Bees in ERA, games started and innings pitched (138.2)...posted 102 strikeouts, 2nd-most on the Burlington staff...Allowed 3 earned runs or less in 20 of his 24 starts for Burlington...posted a complete-game shutout vs. Wisconsin on July 20...Gave up just 6 home runs in his 24 starts for Burlington and held hitters to a .207 (23-11) average with runners in scoring position and a .179 (10-56) average with runners in scoring position and 2 outs...Recorded an ERA below 3.00 in every month except June (3.77)...his best month came in July when he posted a 1.82 ERA in 2 starts...Was promoted to High Desert at the end of the season and went 0-1 with a 7.15 ERA in 3 starts...his combined 2.88 ERA at Burlington and High Desert was 3rd-best in the Royals organization.
