2011

Missed the entire season for the second consecutive year as he continued his rehab from "Tommy John" surgery on his right elbow April 21, 2009...was one of three Oakland pitchers to miss the entire 2010 season due to "Tommy John" surgery along with Josh Outman and John Meloan.

2009

Had "Tommy John" surgery on his right elbow and missed the entire season...made two Spring Training appearances on Feb. 26 and March 4 before he was sidelined with right elbow inflammation...returned to make one final spring outing March 27 but began the season on the 60-day disabled list...Dr. James Andrews performed reconstructive surgery on the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow April 21... was one of three A's pitchers to have "Tommy John" surgery in 2009, along with Dan Giese (June 9) and Josh Outman (June 30).

Named by the Braves organization as the Mississippi (AA) Pitcher of the Year...Ranked tied for second in the Braves' system with 20 saves and was second in ERA for a reliever (1.89)...Was recalled from Richmond (AAA) on 9/19 for the sixth and final time in 2007, the other times: 5/22-25 (no games), 6/20-22 (one game), 7/5-18 (two games), 8/3-7 (one game) & 8/24-27 (one game)...Appeared in six playoff games with Richmond, going 0-0 with four saves and a 3.68 ERA...Pitched a total of 50 minor league games between Richmond and Mississippi (AA) this season, going a combined 5-4 with 20 saves and a 1.89 ERA (12 ER/57.0 IP)...Went 2-4 with a 2.06 ERA and a team-high 16 saves in 33 games with Mississippi...Went 3-0 with a 1.64 ERA in 17 games with Richmond and held opponents to a .188 avg...Picked up his first MLB win on 9/22 vs. MIL after getting out of a bases-loaded jam in the 11th inning.

Went 1-3 with a 5.89 ERA in 18.1 IP over 13 games (two starts) for Myrtle Beach (A). Played one game at Richmond (0.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 BB)...Pitched in two games for Braves in his first stint in April before being optioned back to Richmond on 4/11...Retired two of his first three batters in the 8th inning on 4/8 at SF, but could not close out the inning, as he threw 42 pitches and allowed four runs on three hits, four walks and two wild pitches. He became the first Braves reliever to walk four batters in less than 1.0 inning pitched since John Rocker (4 walks/0.1 IP) on 6/21/2000 vs. CHI...Made his season debut 4/7 at SF and allowed three runs in 0.1 IP, including a pinch-homer to M. Was the Braves top selection (27th overall) in the 2005 draft out of North Carolina State and became the first Brave since Bob Horner in 1978 to reach the majors the same season he was drafted. ... Became just the fourth player in the last 15 years to reach the majors before Sept. 1 in the same year he was drafted (A. Prieto, 1995-OAK; C. Cordero, 2003-MON; R. Wagner, 2003-CIN). ... Began his pro career at Myrtle Beach (A), where he was 0-0 with a save in four games over five innings. ... Made his first appearance with Mississippi (AA) on 7/4. At the time of his promotion to Atlanta, he was 1-1 with five saves, a 2.70 ERA (18 games/20.0 IP), 12 walks and 28 strikeouts. ... Made his Major League debut in the 13th inning vs. SD on 8/20, allowing a grand slam to Xavier Nady. ...
