Ian split the season between Colorado and Triple-A Colorado Springs, as injuries hampered his play...twice landed on the minor league disabled list (right hamstring strain, May 25-June 2, and left wrist contusion, August 21-September 22)...Batted .156 (19-for-122) with six doubles, one triple and six RBI in 48 games for the Rockies, spanning three stints: April 1-19, May 3-13 and July 5-August 10...Broke camp with the big league club for the third-straight year, but knee and wrist injuries in Spring Training limited his playing time...Started the year 2-for-26 before he was optioned, April 19, then was 1-for-21 following his recall, May 3...Batted .275 (47-for-171) with 10 doubles, a triple, 14 homers and 42 RBI in 45 games for Colorado Springs...Batted .419 (13-for-31) with three homers and 13 RBI in his first nine games at the Triple-A level...Posted a .342 batting average (13-for-38) with runners on base and two outs for Colorado Springs.

After starting the year at Triple-A Colo. Stewart got his first call to the big leagues in early August...a non-roster invitee to Major League spring training camp each of the last two years, Stewart won the Abby Greer Award as Rockies Spring Training MVP in 2006...batted .209 with one home run and nine RBI in 35 games for Colorado in his Major League debut...made just three starts at third base for the Rockies, and had a .185 (5-for-27) average as a pinch-hitter...had 17 strikeouts in 43 at-bats...five of his nine hits in the big leagues went for extra bases...has yet to draw a walk in the Majors...the left-handed batter hit .242 (8-for-33) against right-handers, but just .100 (1-for-10) vs. lefties...had his contract purchased from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Aug. 11 when Jeff Baker was placed on the disabled list with a mild concussion... made his Major League debut that night vs. Chicago in a start at third base, going 0-for-2 with a hit by pitch and run scored...lined out and flied out to deep left in his first two big league at-bats...was hit with a glancing blow off his helmet in his third big league plate appearance in sixth inning that night, just ahead of Jamey Carroll's pinch grand slam which ignited Rockies' 15-2 victory...got first Major League hit in his next game, an RBI pinch double on Aug. 12 vs. Chicago-NL off Kerry Wood...gave Rockies' a 4-3 lead in eventual 6-3 win...hit a two-out, two-run pinch single up the middle in seventh inning off Cla Meredith Aug. 15 at San Diego, plating game's first two runs in Rockies' 3-0 win...made his second big league start on Aug. 21 vs. Pittsburgh, going 2-for-5 with his first Major League home run...the slam came in just his ninth career at-bat...became just the second Rockie to hit a grand slam for his first big league long ball, the other by Jimmy Tatum on May 4, 1993 at Chicago-NL...that long ball by Tatum was the first grand slam in club history...it was just the sixth grand slam by a rookie in Rockies history...after having hits in each of his first two career pinch at-bats, Stewart went just 3-for-25 as a pinch-hitter the rest of the season...made his third and final start on Sept. 2 at Arizona, going 2-for-4 with a double and RBI...appeared in 12 of the last 21 games, either as a pinch hitter or as a defensive replacement...had just one hit in his last eight at-bats to drop from .229 to .209...spent the rest of the year with Triple-A Colorado Springs, batting .304 with 15 home runs, 23 doubles, and 65 RBI in 112 games...hit .328 against left-handed pitchers in the Pacific Coast League, .294 vs. right-handers...from beginning of July until joining Colorado on Aug. 11, Stewart had a .321 (43-for-134) average over his final 37 games with the Sky Sox...had three multi-homer games at Triple- A.

2006

Made his Double-A debut, batting .268 with 10 home runs and 71 RBI in 120 games for Tulsa...ranked T9th in all of Minor League baseball with career-high 41 doubles, the second-highest total in the Rockies system and T3rd-most in Texas League...led all Drillers with seven triples and ranked among team leaders in RBI (T2nd, 71), runs (T3rd, 75), hits (3rd, 124), total bases (3rd, 209), and walks (3rd, 50)...led all TL third basemen in assists (252) and double plays (38)...hit safely in 18 of club's first 20 games at .305 and would hit .307 in April...hit just .167 (11-for-67) in May, month in which he endured a sprained left wrist...would compile a .310 (63-for-203) in June and July, but would hit .221 (23-for-104) over his final 29 games after the beginning of August...despite a sub-.300 average for the year, still managed three hit streaks of at least 11 games...hit safely in 11 straight, April 9-20; 13 straight, June 17-July 6; and season-high 19 straight July 19-Aug. 7...the 19-game streak, during which he batted .350 (28-for-80), was third-longest in the Texas League all season...reached base safely in 28 straight from July 8-Aug. 7, sixth-longest span in the TL in '06...established season highs with four hits and four RBI on June 4 at Corpus Christi...doubled and homered among his four hits for Tulsa in the playoffs...named league's 10th-best prospect by Baseball America after the season...batted .396 (19-for-48) with five homers, four doubles, and 14 RBI in 22 games for Colorado in Spring Training, and was named Abby Greer Award winner as club's spring MVP...at one point in spring play, homered four times in a span of 10 at-bats...ranked T5th in Cactus League with five home runs.

2005

Spent his first season at the High-A level, batting .274 with 17 home runs and 86 RBI in 112 games for Modesto...was named a postseason All-Star in the Cal League...also named league's 4th-best prospect after the season by Baseball America...his RBI total ranked fifth in the Rockies organization...despite missing the first month of the season, still tied for team lead with 52 walks, and ranked among team leaders in home runs (2nd), RBI (2nd), triples (2nd, 7), doubles (T2nd, 32), and runs (3rd, 83)...sustained a strained left hamstring during a game in spring training on March 16 and began the season on the disabled list...after time in extended spring training, joined Modesto and played first game on May 1 vs. High Desert, going 0-for-5...batted just .221 over his first 44 games, but beginning June 18, hit safely in 52 of his final 68 contests at .308 (81-for-263) to finish at .274...missed a week in late June with a sprained right wrist...batted .336 (41-for-122) with runners in scoring position...hit .330 (30-for-91) with runners on base and 2 outs...hit a grand slam on May 21 vs. San Jose...posted season-high 4 hits on May 13 at Stockton...homered in 3 of season's final 5 games...hit one of Modesto's 3 team home runs during 5-game playoff run...selected to play for Peoria Javelinas in the Arizona Fall League, batting .333 with 3 home runs and 12 RBI in 12 games...his stay in the fall league was cut short when he re-injured his right wrist while sliding into 2nd base...went 5-for-12 with 2 HR and 9 RBI over his first 3 games, including a grand slam on Oct. 7 at Peoria Saguaros...hit safely in final 4 games at 8-for-12 with 4 walks in that span prior to the injury.

2004

Was named a first-team Minor League All-Star by Baseball America, batting .319 with 30 home runs and 101 RBI for Class-A Asheville...the 19-year-old became the youngest player in the 107-year history of the Asheville Tourists to reach 30 home runs in a single season and became only the 3rd player in Tourists history to hit .300 with 30 HR and 100 RBI, joining Ken Hottman in 1971 and Mike Reinback in 1972...led the South Atlantic League in total bases (300), extra-base hits (70) and slugging percentage (.594)...finished 2nd in both hits (161) and home runs, T4th in RBI, was 6th in average and T7th in triples (9)...was named a midseason and postseason SAL All-Star and named to Baseball America's Low Class A All-Star squad...led all league 3rd basemen in total chances (422), assists (308) and double plays (27) and even helped turn a triple play...posted a .941 fielding percentage with 25 errors...batted .321 with 15 HR and 53 RBI at the hitter-friendly McCormick Field but was equally as dangerous on the road, hitting .317 with 15 HR and 48 RBI away from home...he hit .313 vs. left-handed pitching and .321 vs. righties...named SAL Batter of the Week, July 2-8.

2003

Ian was assigned to Casper (R) in his first pro season and gained notice in the process, as he was named a Rookie Level All-Star by Baseball America and tabbed as the Pioneer League's No. 1 prospect...led all short-season Rockies in average (.317), total bases (125), walks (29) on-base (.401) and slugging (.558)...his slugging percentage finished 5th in the Pioneer League...never went hitless for more than 2 consecutive games and only did that twice.
