Combined to go 3-2 with 6 saves and a 3.79 ERA (26 ER in 61.2 IP) in 47 games with Triple-A Pawtucket (Red Sox) and Triple-A Oklahoma City (Astros)...Began the season with Toronto but was released on Feb. 17...signed by Boston as a Minor League free agent on Feb. 29...Was 3-2 with 5 saves and a 3.33 ERA (18 ER in 48.2 IP) in 35 games with Pawtucket...traded to Houston on Aug. 2 for future considerations...Made 12 relief appearances with Oklahoma City, going 0-0 with 1 save and a 5.54 ERA (8 ER in 13.0 IP)...Played with Hermosillo in the Mexican Winter League and went 5-3 with a 2.50 ERA (16 ER in 57.2 IP).

Spent majority of season in big leagues, going 3-10 with 4 holds and a 5.62 ERA in 28 games/15 starts for the Nationals... combined to go 8-11 with 2 saves and a 4.69 ERA in 41 combined games/23 starts for Washington and Triple-A Syracuse...went 3-8 with a 5.40 ERA in 15 big league starts, averaging 7.6 K's per 9.0 innings...in 13 relief appearances with Washington, posted a 6.92 ERA...began season with Syracuse, but was recalled to DC, April 20...pitched in relief for a month before returning to Triple-A to work in starting role...was member of Washington's 2nd-half rotation...pitched better on the road (2-3, 4.47 ERA, 14 games/8 starts) than at Nationals Park (1-7, 7.02 ERA, 14 games/7 starts)...all 3 wins came in August (3-2, 3.31 ERA, 6 starts)...won back-to-back starts August 8 vs. ARI and August 14 at CIN... allowed more than one home run just once (2, September 4 vs. FLA) in 15 starts.

2008
In first exposure to the big leagues, went 1-3 with a 4.17 ERA and a .239 batting average against in 26 games (3 starts)... enjoyed 4 stints with Washington...made 2 spot starts in June before rejoining the club in late July...was immediately shifted to the bullpen with good success...went 1-0 with a 2.42 ERA (7 ER/26.0 IP) and a .181 (17-for-94) BAA in 23 relief appearances...offered scoreless relief in 18 games...joined Washington for first time on June 8 to make spot start vs. SFG...in MLB debut later that night, took the loss after allowing 4 runs and 7 hits in 4.1 innings...following game, was optioned to Triple-A Columbus...recalled from Columbus to start June 21 contest vs. TEX...pitched well, striking out 8, but received suspect defense and took the loss in a 13-3 setback...fanned Josh Hamilton in the first inning to record first big league strikeout...was recalled from Columbus for 3rd time, July 22...made first career relief appearance, July 26 at LAD, tossing 1.0 perfect inning...pitching in front of parents for first time, worked scoreless 8th inning and was rewarded with first big league win in come-from-behind 8-4 victory, August 31 vs. ATL...sported a 3.18 road ERA and a .161 batting average against in 12 appearances (one start)...posted a 1.93 ERA September...fired 11.0 consecutive scoreless innings in 9 appearances, August 28-September 13.

Missed season's first 3 months (left knee, right shoulder) before going 1-5 with a 5.79 ERA in 11 starts with Harrisburg of the Double-A Eastern League...after 6-week DL stint with a left-knee injury, tossed 6.0 scoreless innings on May 15 with Potomac of the Single-A Carolina League, but returned to the DL with right shoulder bursitis...following the season, went 1-2 with a 4.78 ERA in 8 games (7 starts) for the Peoria Javelinas of the Arizona Fall League...earned lone EL win, August 15 vs. Akron, yielding 2 runs on 6 hits in 6.0 innings.
2006
Career changed paths with trade to Nationals, August 7...tossed 14.2 straight scoreless innings in back-to-back starts to close out that stretch...posted a pair of 10-strikeout performances: May 19 at Carolina (G2) and June 29 at Carolina.

In finest pro campaign with Lancaster, led the hitter-friendly Single-A California League with 14 wins and 160 strikeouts in 28 starts...the 160 K's led all ARI farmhands...earned CL mid-season and year-end All-Star honors...ranked among CL leaders in starts (2nd) and innings pitched (2nd, 174.1) and ERA (4th, 4.18)...walked only 33, or 1.7 per 9.0 innings... worked season-high 8.0 innings 5 times...pitched in the California League-Carolina League All-Star Game.

In pro debut, posted a 2.56 ERA in 13 starts for Yakima of the short-season Single-A Northwest League and South Bend of the Single-A Midwest League...with Yakima, did not allow an earned run in first 4 pro starts...with South Bend, pocketed complete-game victory, August 17 at Cedar Rapids...with the complete-game, was named MWL Pitcher of the Week for the period ending August 22...earned win in lone MWL post-season start, September 8 vs. Fort Wayne.
