Opened the 2011 season with the San Diego Padres after being acquired from the Boston Red Sox in a five-player deal during the off-season -- saw action at second base, in left field, center field and right field with the Padres...Sidelined March 22-April 10 with a left hamstring strain -- saw action in two games with Single A Lake Elsinore during an injury rehabilitation assignment April 7-9...Hit .323 (10x31) over a 14-game stretch with the Padres May 3-21...Had his contract designated for assignment by San Diego on June 9 -- his contract was outrighted by San Diego to Triple A Tucson for the remainder of the season on June 16...Sidelined both July 3-14 and August 11-24 with a right wrist sprain...Batted .324 (23x71) with five doubles, two triples, two home runs and nine RBI in 18 games during August...Released by the Padres organization on December 9.

Split his season between OAK and BOS, also seeing time at Triple-A Pawtucket as part of a rehab assignment...acquired by the Red Sox on 6/26 in exchange for LHP Fabian Williamson...Established career highs in games, at-bats, runs, hits, doubles, triples, home runs, RBI and stolen bases between OAK and BOS...Combined for 47 games (27 starts) in left field, 20 games (10 starts) in center field and 14 games (six starts) at second base...Scored six runs in his first four games after being traded to the Red Sox...Placed on the 15-day disabled list 8/17 (retro to 8/16) with a neck strain and was activated 9/1.

Spent most of the season at Triple-A Sacramento and batted .307 with 91 runs scored, 29 doubles, 11 triples, 12 home runs, 56 RBI, 52 walks and 43 stolen bases in 110 games...ranked second in the Pacific Coast League in triples and stolen bases and fourth in runs...the steals and triples were the most in the A's farm system and he ranked third in runs and fifth in batting...also hit .287 with a home run and 11 RBI in 39 games over three stints with Oakland...added 14 walks for a .373 on-base percentage...stole six bases and was caught stealing just once...is now 14 for 15 (93.3%) in stolen base attempts in two seasons with the A's...is 16 for 18 (88.9%) in his career...went 5 for 30 (.167) with no walks and one stolen base in 12 games over his first two stints and then batted .344 with 14 walks (.456 on-base percentage) and five stolen bases in 27 games during his final stint that ran from Aug. 28 through the end of the season...started games at four different positions, including 20 in left field, four in center field, three at second base an one in right field...hit .375 (6 for 16) against left-handed pitching and .269 (21 for 78) against right-handers...now has a .282 (11 for 39) career average against lefties and .223 (43 for 193) against righties...batted .315 with the bases empty and .217 with runners in scoring position...now has a .197 (12 for 61) career average with RISP...was 10 for 23 (.435) with three walks (.500 on-base percentage) when leading off an inning...hit .344 in 13 day games and .258 in 26 games at night...made all 28 of his starts in the bottom three spots in the order and had his best success with a .375 average in 10 games batting eighth...pinch ran six times and scored four runs and stole a base in those games.

Was acquired by the A's from the Chicago Cubs in the Rich Harden trade in July and had two stints with Oakland...went 0 for 10 in three games during his first stint from July 27 to 29 and hit just .195 in 27 games during his second stint that began Aug. 13...batted .174 with eight RBI and eight stolen bases in 30 games overall with Oakland after hitting .237 with a home run and seven RBI in 13 games with the Cubs...combined for a .192 batting average, one home run and 15 RBI in 43 games in the majors...was successful in 10 of 11 (90.9%) stolen base attempts...hit .217 against left-handed pitchers and .187 against right-handers...was 3 for 7 (.429) with six RBI with the bases loaded...hit .320 with his lone home run and six of his 15 RBI in seven interleague games, all with the Cubs...had a .162 average in his other 36 games...hit .139 against a pitcher the first time he saw him in a game and .275 after that...started 20 games at second base and 15 in left field...also made one appearance in center field with the Cubs June 26...committed four errors in 104 chances as a second baseman for a .962 fielding percentage...was at Triple-A Iowa when he was traded to Oakland July 8 with Sean Gallagher, Matt Murton and Josh Donaldson for Rich Harden and Chad Gaudin...was assigned to Triple-A Sacramento and hit .349 with three home runs and 12 RBI in 14 games before he was promoted to Oakland July 27... started three consecutive games in left field and went 0 for 10 with three walks and five strikeouts before he was optioned back to Sacramento July 30...hit .304 over his next 11 games with the River Cats and returned to Oakland for good Aug. 13...snapped a career long 0 for 16 streak in his first game back Aug. 13 against Tampa Bay...had his first career two steal game Aug. 21 at Seattle and stole seven bases over a 14-game span from Aug. 15 to 30...overall with Oakland, he had appeared in eight games in left field and one at second base before Mark Ellis was injured Aug. 22 at Seattle...replaced Ellis in that game and went on to start each of the next 15 games and 17 of the next 18 games at second base...went 12 for 60 (.200) over that stretch from Aug. 23 to Sept. 11 before Cliff Pennington took over as the A's starting second baseman...made his final start at second base Sept. 17 against Los Angeles and left the game in the fifth inning with a strained left hamstring...missed the remainder of the season....began the season at Triple-A Iowa but had three stints with the Cubs...went 0 for 6 with a RBI in three games during his first stint from April 16 to 18...appeared in just two games during his second stint from June 12 to 16 and was 2 for 8 (.250) with another RBI...was recalled for a third time June 21 and had a career high three hits that day against the Chicago White Sox...hit his first Major League home run the next day, a two-run shot off Javier Vazquez in the fifth inning of the Cubs' 7-1 win...went 7 for 24 (.292) with the home run, five RBI and five walks in eight games during his third stint before he was optioned to Iowa again July 3...in the minors, he batted .320 with six home runs, 28 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 52 games with Iowa and .330 with four home runs, 19 RBI and eight stolen bases in 25 games with Sacramento... combined for a .324 batting average, 10 home runs and 47 RBI in 77 games and was named to the Pacific Coast League Postseason All-Star Team...was successful in 19 of 21 (90.5%) stolen base attempts...hit .331 against right-handed pitching and .301 against left-handers...batted .389 with runners in scoring position...hit .327 with a .367 on-base percentage in 63 games batting in the leadoff spot...appeared in 68 games at second base, six in center field and two in right field...had a season high four hits May 21 at Omaha...had a 12-game minor league hitting streak from June 19 to July 20...hit .389 over that stretch with 17 runs scored, eight doubles, four home runs and 11 RBI...homered in three consecutive games from July 11-13.

Spent a majority of the season with Triple-A Iowa and batted .297 with 14 homers and 65 RBI in 128 games...was a unanimous selection to the Pacific Coast League's All-Star team and was named the second baseman on the All-PCL team at season's end...had two stints with the Cubs, Aug. 6-14 and Sept. 1-3...appeared in seven games for the big league club...made his Major League debut Aug. 6 in Houston...picked up his first career hit Aug. 7 at Houston off Woody Williams...named to the Topps Triple-A All-Star team following the season...recognized as a Baseball America Triple-A All-Star... recorded a season-high 11-game hit streak May 7-18, batting .447 with three homers and nine RBI... homered in three straight games May 11-13...led the Iowa Cubs in games (128), runs (94), hits (153), triples (6), walks (54), stolen bases (24) and multi-hit games (44)...had a 5 for 6 performance July 24 at Colorado Springs, falling a home run shy of the cycle.
2006
Batted .276 with 10 triples and 46 stolen bases in 138 combined games for Double-A West Tenn and Triple-A Iowa...was named to the Southern League All-Star Game and the United States team in the Futures Game at PNC Park...appeared in 121 games for the Diamond Jaxx before being promoted to Iowa in Aug. where he hit .358 in 17 games for the I-Cubs...hit in 14 of 17 games for the I-Cubs, including his first nine games (15 for 36, .417)...ranked third with nine triples in the Southern League while his 38 stolen bases were second-best in the league behind fellow Diamond Jaxx Chris Walker (50)... named the league's "best hustler" following the season...stole a season-high three bases on three occasions: April 9 at Birmingham, April 21 at Chattanooga and July 2 at Huntsville...played for the Mesa Solar Sox in the Arizona Fall League after the season, batting .345 in 28 games.
2005
Earned the Midwest League batting title in his first professional campaign with a .333 batting average...added 13 homers, 71 RBI and 40 stolen bases in 110 games for Single-A Peoria...was second in the league in slugging percentage (.535), third in both triples (11) and on-base percentage (.405) and fifth in stolen bases...led ML second basemen in fielding (.982)...named to both the Midwest League All-Star team and postseason All-Star team...was awarded the team's Most Valuable Player award as well as the Cubs Minor League Player of the Year...was promoted to Double-A West Tenn and appeared in nine games for the Diamond Jaxx.
