Full name: Brian John Slocum...Single...Resides in Eastchester, NY... Named the 1999 Most Valuable Player of the Archdiocesan of New York while at Iona Prep (NY)...Was the Westchester County Player of the Year as a senior...Earned All-League, All-District, All-City, All-County and All-American honors in 1999 and was named as one of the top 12 high school pitchers in the nation...Recorded an 11-1 record and a 0.87 ERA as a senior in high school...Drafted in the 14th round of the 1999 Major League Baseball draft by the Minnesota Twins...Played three years of baseball at Villanova and went 10-7 w/a 3.28 ERA in 27 outings/22GS (156.1IP, 135H, 57ER, 128K)... In 2000 as a freshman earned third team Freshmen All-America honors by Baseball America... Received Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-America honorable mention... Named to the Big East All-Rookie Team (4-4, 2.62ERA, 11GS)...During his junior year of 2002 he went 4-2 w/a 3.41 ERA in 11 starts (68.1IP, 58H, 26ER, 65K)...Was rated by Baseball America as the #1 prospect in Pennsylvania entering the 2002 draft and 40th nationally overall among draft-eligible players...Majored in sociology...Only the third Villanova player ever taken as high as the second round of the MLB Draft...Enjoys playing golf and serves as the team barber in his spare time.

Brian had an impressive season at AAA Buffalo and impressed over 2 Major League starts in September to conclude the season...He began the 2006 season at AAA Buffalo pitching out of the bullpen where he was 0-0 with a 1.93 ERA and 1 save in 5 appearances (9.1IP, 5H, 1BB, 11K) before being recalled to Cleveland on April 21st when Rafael Betancourt was placed on the 15-day disabled list. u Made his Major League debut on April 22 at Kansas City (2.0IP, 3H, 2ER) and was 0-0 with a 7.71 ERA (4.2IP, 5H, 4ER, 5BB, 4K) in 4 relief appearances before being optioned back to AAA Buffalo on May 2...On the year at AAA Buffalo was 6-3 w/a 3.35 ERA and 1 save in 27 games/15 starts (94.0IP, 78H, 42R/35ER, 37BB, 91K) for the Bisons...Was 5-1 with a 3.12 ERA (66.1IP, 58H, 23ER) in 15 games as a starter and 1-2 with a 3.90 ERA (27.2IP, 20H, 12ER) in 12 relief appearances...Limited AAA hitters to a .227 (78-344) average against... LH batters hit just .202 (36-178) off him while RH hitters batted .253 (42-166) off him... Spent the season in A Kinston...Did not pitch after 8/12...Was 2-1 w/a 2.42 ERA in 5 April starts (26.0IP, 24H, 7ER, 17K)...Named a top prospect in CL by Sportsticker.
2004
Spent his 2nd season at Kinston where he led the Carolina League in wins (15) and finished tied for first in CG and shutouts (2)...His 65ER allowed were 3rd in the league...Won 7 straight starts, 7/12-8/16, and was 4-0 w/a 2.16 ERA in 5 August starts (25.0IP, 12H, 6ER, 22K)...Was 1-0 w/a 1.54 ERA in 2 Carolina League starts for the CL champs (11.2IP, 8H, 2ER, 12K)...Worked 5.0 or more IP in 22 of his 25 starts...Threw a 7.0IP CG, 1-hit shutout on 8/3 vs. MB...Fanned 10 in 5.0IP on 8/16 vs. Salem.
2005
Spent the season at AA Akron where he made 21 appearances/17 starts...Started the season by winning his first 3 decisions and had an ERA of 3.48 over his first 6 outings w/a perfect 3-0 record (33.2IP, 28H, 13ER)...Lost 3 straight starts, May 21-31 and went 2-2 w/a 6.59 ERA in June (27.1IP, 38H, 20ER, 24K)...Was bothered at various points during the season w/a ganglion cyst in his right wrist as well as a blister on his throwing hand... From July thru the end of the season he was 2-0 w/a 2.31 ERA in 7 outings (23.1IP, 18H, 6ER) before recording an ERA of 0.75 in the Eastern League playoffs (2GS, 12.0IP, 8H, 1ER)...Went 2-1 w/a 3.15 ERA in 11 Arizona Fall League relief appearances (20.0IP, 14H, 7ER, 19K) and limited AFL hitters to a .192 (14-73) average against... Added to the 40-man roster on November 18...On the year at Akron he limited hitters to a .255 (98-385) average with RH hitters hitting just .231 (52-225) off him...Batters hit .223 (25-112) off him with RISP .
