2011

Spent time at the Triple-A level in the Giants and A's systems and also pitched in Korea...Combined for a 4.27 ERA (41 ER/86.1 IP) with 64 strikeouts in 17 starts between San Francisco's Triple-A Fresno (13 starts) and Oakland's Sacramento (4) clubs...Signed with Cleveland on 1/18 but was released on 3/27 prior to the start of the season...Signed by San Francisco on 3/29 and began the season with Fresno, where he did not earn a win in 13 starts despite posting a 3.60 ERA (26 ER/65.0 IP)...Released on 6/15 and claimed 2 days later by Oakland on 6/17...Made 4 starts with the River Cats before being released on 7/11...Also pitched for the Samsung Lions of Korea Professional Baseball last season, where he went 5-2 with a 2.52 ERA (18 ER/64.1 IP).

2010

Mathis split the 2010 season between the AL Champion Texas Rangers and the Triple-A Oklahoma City Redhawks in his sixth season in the Texas organization...He went 1-1 w/ a 6.04 ERA in 13 Major League relief appearances (22.1IP, 30H, 15ER, 11BB, 10K) over two stints in Texas, recording an ERA of 3.00 (21.0IP, 23H, 7ER, 4HR) in 12 of the outings excluding his appearance of May 14 at Toronto (1.1IP, 7H, 8ER)...Worked relief career-high 4.1 shutout innings on April 24 vs. Detroit...His second stint in Texas in July resulted in four scoreless 1.0 inning outings (2H). He went 5-7 w/a 5.66 ERA in 18 games/15 starts at Triple-A (89.0IP, 116H, 56ER, 31BB, 54K)...Recorded a relief ERA of 1.13 in 3 games at Triple-A (8.0IP, 6H, 1ER)...Pitched for Este in the Dominican Winter League after the season and went 2-1 w/a 3.29 ERA in 7 games (4GS, 27.1IP, 33H, 10ER)

2009

Spent most of the final 4 months of the season with the Rangers, a pair of stints from June 5-July 28 and Aug. 2-end of season... began year at Oklahoma City (AAA)...made 2 spot starts, going 0-1 with a 7.00 ERA (7 ER/9.0 IP), and 22 relief appearances at 0-0, 2.14 (8 ER/33.2 IP) for Texas...held opposition scoreless in 15 of 22 relief outings...tossed 2.0-or-more innings 9 times in relief, posting 0.83 ERA (2 ER/21.2 IP) in those contests...opponents batted .244 (39-160), with right-handers at .239 (22-92) and lefties at .250 (17-68)...had contract purchased from Oklahoma City on June 5 and made his season debut with 1.0 scoreless inning of relief on June 6 at Boston...made spot start June 9 vs. Toronto in place of injured Brandon McCarthy and took the loss in a 9-0 defeat (5.0 IP, 5 R-4 ER)...returned to the bullpen and made 9 consecutive scoreless relief appearances from June 14 to July 22...finished a 3- 1 victory with 3.1 scoreless innings on July 22 vs. Boston for his first career save, teaming with only starter Dustin Nippert to beat the Red Sox and secure a 3-game sweep on ESPN Wednesday Night Baseball...only hit he allowed was a leadoff single by Jason Varitek in the 7th...was the longest save by a Texas pitcher since C.J. Wilson had a 4.0-inning save on Aug. 26, 2005 vs. Minnesota...was the 3rd-longest save in the A.L. in 2009 and was one of just 8 in the league to go 3.0-or-more innings...made his 2nd and final start on July 28 vs. Detroit in place of flu-ridden Vicente Padilla, taking no decision in a 7-3 win (4.0 IP, 3 R-ER)...had a 4.32 ERA (8 ER/16.2 IP) over his final 12 games of the season after being recalled from Oklahoma on Aug. 2.

2008

Initially called up due to injuries on pitching staff, Mathis spent just over a month with Texas before having his own season cut short by arm troubles...went 2-1, 6.85 in 8 games/4 starts with the Rangers in 2008...was 1-0, 0.00 (0 ER/5.0 IP) over 4 relief appearances and 1-1, 8.83 (17 ER/17.1 IP) in 4 starts...tossed a scoreless 10th in the Rangers' 13-12 victory on May 12 vs. Seattle, becoming the first pitcher in the 48-year history of the Washington/Texas franchise to post a relief win in his first major league appearance... Mathis became the 15th pitcher in franchise history, and 11th in Texas history, to win his major league debut, but was the first to do so in relief...started opposite C.C. Sabathia on May 25 at Cleveland (ND, 6.0 IP, 1 R-ER), helping Rangers to a 2-1, 10-inning win...earned first win as starter June 8 vs. Tampa Bay...last appearance in majors was June 15 at New York-NL (G2)...was 5-0, 3.55 (18 ER/45.2 IP) in 7 games/starts for Oklahoma (AAA) when contract was purchased on May 11...threw season-high 115 pitches in final start before joining Texas on May 6 vs. Sacramento...also made rehab appearances with RedHawks...was placed on the Texas 15-day disabled list on June 16 with right shoulder inflammation...began rehab assignment on Aug. 2, making one start with the Arizona Rangers (Rookie) and one with Oklahoma (AAA)...activated from disabled list on Aug. 11 and optioned to Oklahoma...option was later voided after Mathis made 2 additional starts with Oklahoma and it was discovered he was not fully recovered from previous injury...was subsequently recalled from Oklahoma and reinstated on major league disabled list, where he resided for the remainder of the season...had surgery in early September to remove an inflamed bursa sac in his right shoulder...participated in the club's pitching mini-camp in January 2009.

2007

Spent most of the season at Frisco (AA), in addition to brief stints with Oklahoma and Arizona (Rookie)...began the year with Oklahoma...transferred to Frisco on April 19...selected to the Texas League South Division All-Star Team...made one start after the break before being placed on the DL with a muscle strain in his back, July 4...made one rehab start for Arizona on July 12 vs. the AZL Royals before returning to Frisco on July 17...earned the victory and notched a season- high 10 strikeouts in a 9.0-inning complete game shutout on Aug. 25 vs. Midland, allowing just 4 hits and no walks...ranked among Frisco staff leaders in ERA (1st - min. 90.0 innings), innings, wins (2nd), starts (T2nd) and strikeouts (3rd)...his 3.76 ERA ranked 8th in the Texas League.

2006

Spent the majority of the season with Bakersfield (High-A) and appeared in 2 games at Frisco...combined to go 10-7, 4.14 (74 ER/160.2 IP) with 119 strikeouts and only 52 walks over 28 games/27 starts...ranked 3rd among all Texas minor leaguers in wins and 7th with an ERA of 4.15...ranked among California League leaders in complete games (T1st, 2), shutouts (2nd, one) and ERA (5th, 4.18)...led the Bakersfield staff in complete games, innings pitched and T1st in strikeouts... received Rangers Minor League Pitcher of the Month honors for July...named California League Pitcher of the Week honors for the week of July 17-23 and Aug. 7-13...had 13 quality starts.

2005

Led all Texas minor leaguers with a 2.68 ERA (25 ER/84.0 IP)...spent first professional season with Spokane (Rookie-Advanced)...tied for Northwest League lead in games started...ranked 2nd in the circuit in innings, 4th in losses, 5th in strikeouts and 7th in ERA...led Spokane staff in starts, innings pitched, strikeouts and ERA...earned first professional win in lone relief appearance on July 2 at Yakima, tossing 1.0 scoreless inning...took loss in lone postseason appearance, allowing 4 runs in 5.0 innings on Sept. 10 at Vancouver.
