Full name is Gregory Joseph Golson...Graduated from John B. Connally High in Austin, Texas, in 2004...Named to the USA Today All-USA High School Baseball Team in 2004.
2011
Spent a majority of the season with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (AAA) in the Yankees organization...was recalled by the Yankees from July 14-17 and then again on September 6 through the end of the season ... The athletic outfielder spent a majority of his time at Scranton in center field, but also appeared in left and right field...batted .295 (69-for-234) before the break before falling off to .213 (32-for-150) in the second half of the season.
2010
Hit .261 (6-for-23) with 3R, 2 doubles and 2RBI in 24 games (four starts in RF, one in CF and one in LF) over three stints with the Yankees (also 5/4-7, 5/12-18, 9/1-10/3)...Was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on 5/4 and made his Yankees debut in that night's win vs. Baltimore, entering the game defensively in the eighth in CF (did not bat)...did not appear in another game before being optioned back to Scranton/WB on 5/7...Recalled for a second time on 5/12, appearing in five games (one start in RF in 5/13 loss at Detroit)...Collected his first Major League hit in 5/12 Game 2 win at Detroit, entering game in the seventh in CF and singling off Phil Coke in the ninth...Joined the Yankees a third time as a September callup on 9/1...played in 18 games over the final month of the season, batting .222 (4-for-18) with 3R, 2 doubles and 2RBI...Entered 9/14 win at Tampa Bay defensively in the ninth in RF...threw out Carl Crawford at third base on a fly ball out to complete a double play and end the game...according to the Elias Sports Bureau, marked the Yankees first extra-inning win to end on an outfield assist since 8/16/03 when Karim Garcia started a 9-4-5-2-5 putout of Baltimore's Jack Cust in the 12th inning to preserve a 5-4 win...Began the season with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, batting .263 (109-for-415) with 51R, 23 doubles, 5 triples, 10HR and 40RBI in 116 games...hit safely in each of his last nine games with Scranton/WB, batting .382 (13-for-34) with 7R, 5 doubles, 1 triple, 1HR and 2RBI over the stretch...Hit an inside-the-park home run in the third inning of 4/30 win vs. Louisville off the Bats' Matt Maloney.

In his first season with the Texas organization, spent the bulk of his time with Triple-A Oklahoma City, batting .258 with 46R, 17 doubles, 8 triples, 2HR, and 40RBI in 123 games... was 20-for-24 in stolen base attempts... led the team in triples and ranked second in games played...Appeared in one game during his one stint with Texas from 5/4-9... lone appearance came in 5/7 loss at Oakland, replacing Marlon Byrd defensively in CF in the bottom of the eighth, then striking out looking in his only Rangers at-bat to lead off the ninth inning... was optioned back to Oklahoma City on 5/9 when Joaquin Arias was added to the roster...Was labeled by Baseball America as the organization's "Best Athlete," "Fastest Baserunner" and "Best Outfield Arm" entering the season.
2008
In his final season in the Phillies system, spent the entire season at Double-A, batting .282 with 13 home runs, 18 doubles, and 60 RBI in 106 games with Reading...battled a wrist injury that sidelined him for nearly a month, but still posted highest walk (34), onbase (.333), and slugging (.434) figures of his minor league career...also compiled the lowest strikeout-per-at-bat ratio of his career...made his major league debut as a September call-up with Philadelphia...was a finalist for the U.S. Olympic team that played in Beijing, and went 0-for-2 as a pinch-hitter/leftfielder for the U.S. squad in the 2008 MLB Futures Game on July 13 at Yankee Stadium...went 23-for-28 in steal attempts and was named to the Eastern League's midseason All-Star team... his 23 steals were T6th in EL...in a survey of league managers by Baseball America, was voted most exciting player, fastest baserunner, and best outfield arm...was on the disabled list June 18-July 9 with a sprained left wrist, suffered while swinging on June 13...hit 3rd in the Reading order for the bulk of the year...batted .276 (27-98) vs. lefties and .284 (93-328) against right-handers...hit .317 (65-205) at home, .249 (55-221) on the road...had .305 (29-95) average in 23 day games...played almost exclusively in center field, but also saw brief action in left and right...had a .295 (38-129) average with runners in scoring position...hit .346 over the first 12 games and had a .329 (70-213) average through the end of May...hit .132 (5-38) over first 10 games in June leading up to his DL stint, dropping season figure from .329 to .299...in his final 44 games after the wrist injury, batted .257 (45-175) to finish at .282...had a .375 (21-56) average with 3 home runs, 4 doubles, 14 RBI, and 13 runs scored over final 13 games in month of May...began that stretch by going 5-for-6 with a homer and 5 RBI on May 18 vs. Akron, a 14-1 win for the Reading club...his .336 average in May was best in any month all season...in first game after return from DL, went 3-for-5 with a homer and 3 RBI on July 10 vs. Erie...went 4-for-5 with 2 HR and 5 RBI on Aug. 17 vs. Trenton, his lone multi-homer game of the year...in 3rd game of the year, had season-high 4 stolen bases while going 3-for-4 with a triple, RBI and 3 runs scored on April 5 at Altoona...had 3rd-most strikeouts in the league (130)...compiled a .973 (8 E/300 TC) fielding pct. with 6 outfield assists.

Appeared in 136 combined games with Single-A Clearwater and Double-A Reading, batting .273 (156-for-571) with 86R, 32 doubles, a career-high 15HR and 68RBI... also stole 30 bases in 38 attempts...Began the year at Clearwater, where he led the club in doubles (27) and stolen bases (25), finishing eighth in the Florida State League in steals... was promoted to Reading on 7/26 where he finished out the season...Played for the Peoria Saguaros in Arizona Fall League following the season.
2006
Combined to hit .233 (127-for-546) with 87R, 26 doubles, 13HR, 48RBI and 30SB in 133 games with Single-A Lakewood and Single-A Clearwater...Named the organization's June "Player of the Month" before being promoted to Clearwater on 7/20... hit for the cycle on 8/28 vs. Ft. Myers...Following the season, tabbed by Baseball America as the Phillies' 10th-best prospect.

Batted .264 with 51R, 19 doubles, 8 triples, 4HR and 27RBI in 89 games with Single-A Lakewood...also stole a team-high 25 bases (in 34 attempts)...tied for fourth in the South Atlantic League in triples.
