Jim signed a minor league contract with the Cubs with an invitation to major league spring training in January of 2017 ... he has appeared in parts of four major league seasons with the Brewers (2012-14) and Mets (2016), going 10-11 with 31 saves and a 3.61 ERA (55 ER/137.0 IP)...Previously pitched in the Cubs organization from 2007-08 ... was selected by the Cubs in the Triple-A Phase of the Rule 5 Draft in December of 2006 ... was released by Chicago in March of 2009...Posted a career-high 28 saves in 2013 with Milwaukee, recording a 2.70 ERA (18 ER/60.0 IP) in 61 games...Has gone 41-41 with a 4.00 ERA (306 ER/688.2 IP) and 66 saves in 372 minor league games since making his professional debut in 2003 in the Expos organization...Was a member of the gold-medal winning Canadian National Team at the 2011 Pan-American Games ... inducted, along with the rest of the team, into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame... In his last season in the Brewers organization, he went 1-2 with a 4.04 ERA (16 ER/35.2 IP) in 35 games pitched (two starts) between Triple-A Colorado Springs, Double-A Biloxi and Single-A Brevard County...Spent Spring Training recovering from right shoulder surgery in August of 2014 ... made his first appearance April 17 with Brevard County... Appeared in 29 games with Colorado Springs, going 1-1 with two saves and a 4.55 ERA (15 ER/29.2 IP).

2014

Went 2-1 with a 7.15 ERA in 14 relief appearances...Made his last appearance of the season on 5/1 at Cincinnati and allowed 5 runs in two-thirds of an inning.....his ERA without that outing was 3.38 (10.2ip, 4er)...Was placed on the 15-day disabled list on 5/2 with right shoulder inflammation...Was sent to Double-A Huntsville on rehab assignment on 5/22.....was returned from rehab on 5/26 but remained on the disabled list...Had rehab stints at Rookie Arizona, Double-A Huntsville and Triple-A Nashville in July...Was transferred to the 60-day disabled list on 7/21...Had season-ending surgery on his right shoulder on 8/19, performed by Dr. James Andrews

2013

2012

Began the season at Triple-A Nashville, where he went 4-3 with a 1.69 ERA and 15 saves in 35 relief appearances. Was a Pacifi c Coast League All-Star. Held PCL opponents to a .214 batting average with 56 strikeouts in 48.0 innings. Went 15-for-16 in save opportunities. Went unscored upon in 30 of his last 35 appearances with Nashville. Contract was selected by Milwaukee on 7/26. Went 1-3 with a 3.52 ERA and 3 saves in 36 relief appearances with the Brewers. Held opponents to a .230 batting average with 45 strikeouts in 30.2 innings. Went 3-for-7 in save opportunities. Retired 22 of 36 fi rst batters faced (61.1%). Stranded 9 of 13 inherited runners (69.2%). Made his Major League debut on 7/26 vs. Washington (1ip, 1k) ... his first career strikeout was Roger Bernadina. 2011

Went a combined 7-2 with a 4.28 ERA in 42 games between Triple-A Nashville and Double-A Huntsville.....held Pacific Coast League opponents to a .220 batting average and limited Southern League opponents to a .198 BA.....pitched for Team Canada in the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) World Cup and helped Canada win the gold medal in the Pan-American Games following the season.

2009

Was released by Chicago-NL on 3/12.....signed with Milwaukee on 4/1.....went a combined 4-0 with 21 saves and a 2.04 ERA (61.2ip, 14er) between Class-A Wisconsin, Class-A Brevard County and Double-A Huntsville.....was named the 2009 Canadian Co-Minor League Pitcher of the Year by the Canadian Baseball Network (along with Brewers closer John Axford).....was a Midwest League All-Star.....converted all 17 of his save attempts at Wisconsin and was unscored upon in 24 of his 26 appearances with the Timber Rattlers.....played in the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) World Cup for Canada.

2008

Missed the majority of the season with a right shoulder strain.....was on the disabled list from 5/27-through the end of the season.
