2011
Spent most of the season at Class AAA Louisville, where he ranked sixth among all Reds minor leaguers with a 3.84era...led the Bats in victories (9)...made 2 apps for the Reds, started and suffered the 7-2 loss on 5/31 vs Mil (6.1ip, 5h, 6r, 5er, 5bb, 2k, Hart 3-run HR, Lucroy solo HR) and pitched in relief in the 9-6 loss on 6/5 vs LAD (0.1ip, 1bb, 1k)...was optioned to Louisville on 6/6, when Daryl Thompson was promoted, and on 6/22 was outrighted off the roster...from 7/22-8/10 was on Louisville's disabled list with right shoulder tendinitis...in the 9-0 win on 4/24 at Toledo threw 3.0 innings for his only save of the season...on 10/10/11 elected free agency but on 11/17 was re-signed by the Reds to a minor league contract with his second straight invitation to Major League spring training camp...pitched for Leones del Caracas in the Venezuelan Winter League (6gs, 4-2, 3.90, 27.2ip, 38h, 7bb, 27k, 1hr).

Spent the season at Class AAA Louisville...with 9 victories fell 1 shy of his singleseason career high...on 6/22 vs Toledo tied his career high by throwing 8.0 innings...became a free agent following the season but on 11/20 was re-signed to a minor league contract...following the regular season pitched for Leones del Caracas in the Venezuelan Winter League (6gs, 2-1, 3.55, 25.1ip, 26h, 11bb, 12k)...was invited to 2011 Major League spring training camp.
2009
Just before Opening Day was traded from the Padres to the A's and spent most of the season at Class AAA Sacramento...spent 1 day on the Athletics' roster, on 8/5 started vs the Rangers and received no decision in the 7-5 victory (5ip, 7h, 4er, obb, 1k, 2hr)...the next day was optioned back to Sacramento and spent the rest of the year there...following the season was outrighted off Oak's roster and elected free agency...on 12/18 was signed by the Reds to a minor league contract.
2008
Spent most of the season at Class AAA, first with the Astros' Round Rock affiliate and then with the Padres' Portland club...on 7/22 was traded from Hou to SD for LHP Randy Wolf...in his Major League debut made 3 starts and 1 relief appearance...prior to the trade, was recalled by the Astros on 7/8 but was returned to Round Rock the same day, before he made an appearance...made his big league debut on 8/16 vs Phi, started the 8-3 win and became the 19th pitcher in Padres history to record a victory in his first career appearance (5ip, 5h, 3er, 3bb, 5k)...earned his second victory in his third start, on 8/26 vs Ari, in which he denied Brandon Webb his 20th win of the season...according to Elias, in the last 50 years only 3 other pitchers with fewer than 2 career wins defeated an opposing starter seeking his 20th win of the season (Wayne Franklin vs Roy Oswalt in 2002, Rick Kreuger vs Ed Figueroa in 1976, Bill Gogolewski vs Jim Palmer in 1970)...did not pitch after 8/30 because of a stress reaction in his right scapula area...entered the season rated Hou's ninth-best prospect...Baseball America rated his slider as the best in the Astros organization.
2007
Spent the entire season at Triple A Round Rock, where he went 5-5 with a 4.68 ERA (52ER/100.0IP) in 32 appearances (16 starts)...struck out 95 and walked 52...his 95 strikeouts were third-best on the team...made his season debut on April 8 vs. Iowa, recording the win after allowing only one hit in 5.0 innings and striking out three...allowed only one hit in 7.0 innings to earn his second win on May 2 at New Orleans...suffered the loss on May 7 at Nashville despite allowing only two earned runs and striking out six in 7.2 innings...won consecutive starts from May 12-18, including a season-high seven strikeouts in a win vs. Portland on May 12...went 3-1 with a 2.97 ERA (10ER/30.1IP) in five starts in May...struck out 28 and held opponents to a .222 batting average...nine of his first 10 appearances of the season were starts, went 4-3 with a 5.59 ERA (30ER/48.1IP) during that span...recorded the win on July 4 vs. Omaha, allowing only two hits and striking out six in 3.1 innings of relief...all 15 of his appearances from June 15-July 25 were in relief...went 1-1 with a 4.86 ERA (11ER/20.1IP) over that span...returned to the rotation on July 30 vs. Las Vegas, allowing two hits and an unearned run in 3.0 innings...earned a no-decision on August 27 vs. Albuquerque after allowing only four hits and no runs in a season-high 8.0 innings...his final seven appearances of the season were all starts...went 0-1 with a 3.15 ERA (11ER/31.1IP) and 25 strike outs during that span.

At Class A Salem was a Carolina League All-Star... on 7/10 was promoted to Class AA Corpus Christi...pitched for Mesa in the Arizona Fall League.

Spent the entire season at Class A Lexington, where from 8/15-8/21 he was named the club's Pitcher of the Week.
