Spent last full season as a starting pitcher with West Michigan (Tigers' A)...Shared club lead in strikeouts...Lost first three decisions...Tossed 7.1 scoreless innings and picked up first win on 5/13 @Fort Wayne...Struck out season-high 10 batters on 5/31 @Beloit (game one)...Went 4-1 with a 3.34 ERA (32.1ip/12er) in a six-game stretch from 7/23 to 8/19...Pitched 5.0 scoreless frames while picking up final victory on 8/19 vs. Beloit...Surrendered 14 hits and nine runs (eight earned) in loss vs. Lansing on 8/30...Went 0-3 with a 9.42 ERA in his last three starts (14.1ip/15er).

2003

Spent first professional season with Oneonta, Detroit's entry in the New York-Penn League, after being selected by the Tigers in the 11th round of the June draft...Ranked second among NYPL starters with 10.48 strikeouts per 9.0ip...Went 3-1 with a 2.91 ERA in six starts during the month of August, ranking second in the league with 39 strikeouts...Tossed season-high 8.0 innings on 8/18 vs. Vermont and whiffed season-high nine batters in final start on 8/30 vs. Staten Island (game one).
