Bryan Christopher Augenstein (pronounced AH-gun-steen)...2004 graduate of Sebastian River (FL) High School...entered his senior season having been selected to Louisville Slugger's preseason All-America first team...father Fred played basketball and golf at Ohio State University...attended the University of Florida from 2005-07.

2012

Signed with Tampa Bay as a minor league free agent January 24 and spent the season with Triple-A Durham. ... Made one start before being placed on 7-day disabled list with elbow soreness April 10; reinstated May 20. ... Did not allow a run and struck out 19 batters in first nine appearances (15.0 IP) back from the DL May 22-June 19. ... Place on 7-day disabled list July 27; reinstated August 8, but did not play and was placed back on DL August 10, ending his season.

2011

Opened the season in the St. Louis Cardinals bullpen and made 5 apps but was placed on the disabled list with a right groin strain on April 13...suffered the injury the inning after collecting his first major league hit on April 12 at ARI...made 3 rehab apps with Class-A Palm Beach and then spent the rest of the season with Triple-A Memphis where he held right-handed hitters to a .205 avg. (17-for-83).

2010

Was a combined 6-9, 6.49 ERA in 25 games (22 starts) with Reno (AAA) and Mobile (AA). All but three of his apps. came at Triple-A where all 22 of his starts were made...His three games at Double-A came after spending 7/14-8/5 on the disabled list with a staph infection...Fanned 110 batters while walking only 38 in his 129.0 combined innings pitched.

2009

Saw his first big league action with 7 appearances (2 starts) while splitting the rest of the season between Double-A Mobile and Triple-A Reno... In 9 starts for Mobile, went 5-0 with a 0.99 ERA (5 ER in 45.2 IP) and a .172 average with 8 walks and 36 strikeouts...in 8 games (7 starts) for Reno, went 2-5 with a 5.50 ERA (22 ER in 36.0 IP) and .299 average with 7 walks and 29 strikeouts... Started the season with Mobile and in 6 starts was part of 3 combined shutouts, toss¬ing 5.0 scoreless innings on April 12 and 7.0 scoreless innings on April 17 and 28... Named Southern League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 19... Earned organizational Pitcher of the Month honors for April after posting a South¬ern League-leading 4 victories while his 0.35 ERA was second... Selected by the D-backs on May 13 and subsequently made his Major League debut, allowing 5 runs on 8 hits and 2 walks with 3 strikeouts over 6.1 innings in a 10-3 loss to the Reds...also got the starting nod in the second game of a doubleheader on May 20 @ Marlins, allowing 6 runs (5 earned) on 7 hits and 2 walks with 1 strikeout over 5.0 frames in a 13-inning, 11-9 win... Optioned to Reno on May 21... On the disabled list from June 12 (retro to June 10)-June 24 with a right triceps strain... Named the California League Pitcher of the Week for June 23-29... On the disabled list from July 15-Aug. 16 with right elbow inflammation... Transferred from Reno to Mobile on Aug. 17... Was recalled from Mobile on Sept. 2 and allowed 5 earned runs over 5.2 innings (7.94 ERA) in 5 appearances in relief... Made his first career relief appearance with a scoreless inning on Sept. 3 @ Dodg¬ers...tossed a season-high 2.0 frames in relief on Sept. 12 vs. Brewers, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits with 1 strikeout... Following the season, pitched for the Scottsdale Scorpions in the Arizona Fall League...in 6 starts, went 1-4 with a 4.15 ERA (8 ER in 17.1 IP).

2008

Named to the Midwest League Regular-Season All-Star Team and rated by Baseball America as having the Best Control in the Midwest League...Won 5 out of his last 6 starts for Single-A South Bend, including 3 straight from May 30-June 10... Promoted to Single-A Advanced Visalia on June 29, tossing 5.0 shutout innings in a win at Bakersfield...Issued 14 walks between Single-A South Bend and Single-A Advanced Visalia for a ratio of 1 walk per 37 batters faced.

Pitched in 10 games for Rookie-Advance Missoula in his first season of professional baseball in 2007.
