In his first professional season, went 1-7 with a 6.09 ERA (44 ER/65.0 IP) in 13 starts for Rookie-level Peoria...his loss total tied for the league lead.
2000
Split his time between Rookie-level Idaho Falls and Fort Wayne, combining to go 7-7 in 20 starts...struck out 69 on the year, issuing 45 walks.
2001
Spent the majority of the year at Lake Elsinore, where he went 5-4 with a 5.35 ERA (44 ER/74.0 IP)...made one start at Single-A Fort Wayne, allowing four runs over 6.0 innings of work.

2006
He began the season with Double-A Mobile, making 18 starts there before being promoted to Triple-A Portland. He made 13 starts for Portland, and made 16 starts for the Padres. He won his Major League debut after giving up four runs (three earned) over five innings at Arizona.
