Began senior season at Williamsport (MD) HS as a top prep prospect (projected to be drafted in Top 5) but suffered elbow injury two weeks before 2004 draft and underwent Tommy John surgery, June 17...Signed, July 26, 2004, and spent 2004 season rehabbing at Angels' training facility in Mesa, AZ...Was a non-roster invitee to Angels major league spring training for last three years (2006-08)...Was named Youth Player of the Year by *Baseball America* in 2001...Originally signed by Angels' scout Dan Radcliff.
2008
Began season with Triple-A Salt Lake, going 4-0 with a 0.87 ERA (31 IP - 3 ER) in five starts in April...Pitched a season-high eight scoreless innings, April 27 against Fresno...Called up to Angels May 1 and made Major League debut vs. OAK that same day, becoming the youngest active-roster pitcher in the Majors...Earned first ML win on May 12 vs. CHW, pitching 5.2 innings, allowing four runs on nine hits...Posted a 1-0 record with a 9.00 ERA, allowing 12 runs on 18 hits with four strikeouts in three ML starts...Optioned to Salt Lake on May 13...Struck out a season-best eight batters July 13 against Sacramento and again during a shutout performance against Portland August 27 that clinched division title for Salt Lake...Finished season at Salt Lake with a 9-13 record with a 5.76 ERA (145.1 IP - 93 ER).
2007
Spent entire season at Double-A Arkansas, going 10-8 with a 3.65 ERA (153 IP - 62 ER)...Named Angels' Pitcher of the Month for April, going 3-1 with a 1.01 ERA...Ranked fifth in Texas League in ERA and also led Arkansas in wins (10, tied with Nick Green) and strikeouts (116, 3rd in TL)...Selected to Texas League All-Star game...Ranked as Angels' No. 2 prospect by Baseball America for 2007.
2006
Started season with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga, going 5-2 with a 3.78 ERA before joining Cedar Rapids...Went 10-2 with a 1.95 ERA in 16 games at Cedar Rapids...Tossed a complete game at Quad Cities, allowing one run while receiving the loss...Named to Midwest League All-Star Team and postseason All-Star team...Selected to MLB Futures game (US Squad)...Member of USA Baseball Olympic Qualifying team...Led Angels' farm system with 15 wins in 2006.
