Began the season on Florida's Opening Day roster after coming over in an April 1 trade with Baltimore...made 16 appearances for the Marlins, including one start, posting a 1-0 record and 7.77 ERA...On April 15 at Atlanta, earned his first win at the Major League level since September 1, 2005 at Toronto. Tossed 1.1 scoreless while striking out one...Made his only start on May 20 vs. Arizona, surrendering four runs (three earned) on five hits with two walks and two strikeouts...Fared significantly better on the road than at home, going 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA (10.0 IP/2 ER) in eight road contests compared to 0-0 with a 12.75 ERA (12.0 IP/17 ER) in eight home appearances...He was designated for assignment on June 4. After accepting the assignment, was transferred to triple-A New Orleans. With the Zephyrs, went 2-4 with a 4.11 ERA in 14 games (13 starts), including two complete games and one shutout...Tossed first complete game on August 6 at Fresno, taking the loss after allowing two unearned runs on five hits over 8.0 innings. Combined to go 2-2 with a 4.05 ERA between three teams in 10 starts in a season interrupted by injury...Made one start at AAA Norfolk before going on the disabled list on April 12 with a right elbow strain...Dr. Andrew Cosgarea performed surgery on May 2 to remove bone spurs from the elbow...Was sidelined until going on a rehab assignment with the Gulf Coast Orioles on July 20...Spent nearly a month in the GCL before making one rehab start at Short-A Aberdeen on August 16...Returned to Norfolk on August 21 and made 3 starts before the season ended...Won his first 2 starts after being activated from the DL, allowing 2 runs in 5.0 innings on August 21 at Charlotte and one run in 6.0 IP on August 27 vs. Durham...Allowed a season high 7 runs on 10 hits in 5.0 IP in a losing effort in his final outing, September 1 vs. Richmond...Pitched for the Phoenix Desert Dogs in the Arizona Fall League, going 1-0 with a 6.45 ERA in 7 starts (22.1IP, 27H, 18R/16ER, 10BB, 27K).

Spent most of the season at AA Bowie and made 8 starts in two stints with the Orioles...Became the 29th player in Orioles history to make his major league debut before the age of 21 when he started on 5/28 vs. Detroit...Was only the 3rd pitcher to do so since 1967, joining Storm Davis and Matt Riley...His contract was purchased from AA Bowie on 5/28 when Erik Bedard was placed on the disabled list with a sprained left medial collateral ligament...That night, he became the first pitcher who was not in the Orioles' Opening Day 5-man rotation to start a game...Did not get a decision in his debut, pitching 4.2 innings vs. Detroit...Left trailing, 3-2, but the Orioles tied the game before going on to lose, 5-3, to the Tigers...Had 2 more no-decisions before earning his first major league victory on 6/13 vs. Houston, despite allowing 5 runs in 5.2 IP...Won his next start vs. Colorado 6 days later, allowing 2 runs over 6.2 innings...Went 2-0 with a 4.23 ERA (27.2IP, 13ER) in his first 5 starts before surrendering 12 runs in 5.2 innings over his final 2 outings...Was optioned back to Bowie following his start on 6/30...Was recalled on 9/1 to make a fill-in start at Toronto and worked 5.0 innings to earn his 3rd win, 5-3...Was optioned back to Bowie following the game...Went 3-3 with a 3.12 ERA in his first 9 starts for Bowie before joining the Orioles in late May...Was 3rd in the Eastern League with 58 strikeouts and had held opponents to a .253 batting average at the time of his first recall...Was named Organizational Pitcher of the Month for April, going 2-1 with a 1.55 ERA (29.0IP, 21H, 5ER) in 5 starts while holding opponents to a .204 batting average...Pitched 6.0 no-hit innings and struck out 9 batters on 4/17 vs. Akron but was removed from the game because of a high pitch count...Two starts later, 4/29 vs. Reading, he struck out 10 batters and allowed one run in 7.0 innings to earn the win...After returning to the Baysox on 7/1, he went 4-3 with a 4.40 ERA in 11 games...Went 1-2 with a 7.06 ERA in his first 6 starts after rejoining Bowie, then went 3- 1 with a 1.97 ERA over his final 5 outings before being recalled by the Orioles on 9/1...At Bowie, struck out 10 or more batters in a game 3 times, including a season-high 12 batters in 7.0 scoreless innings on 8/5 vs. Erie...Had 44 strikeouts in 32.0 IP in his final 5 starts for Bowie...Struck out 88 batters with only 13 walks in 10 games in April and August, but 36 strikeouts with 24 walks in 10 games between June and July with Bowie.
